WA State Liquor tax is nutso. I always bring back 2-3 nice (15-21 year) bottles of Scotch. So, I have a bunch of them too. Current favs are Dalwhinnie 15 and The Dalmore 18. If you have a chance, the Hibiki 17 is amazing too, as is the 12 - and is a bit easier on the wallet. For peaty, Talisker Port Ruighe, Laphroaig 15 and Oban 14 do the trick.

I've been on a sherried whiskey kick lately - Dalmore 12 (good), Macallan 12 (similar to Dalmore but IMO smoother and less heat), and Aberlour Abunadh (cask strength, youch).
Otherwise I seem to gravitate towards the Irish's - Bushmills Black and 16, Green Spot, Redbreast 12 are all among my favorites. I can drink bourbon, but it's just not for my palate. I won't say it's "too" spicy (I like rye) or corn (I don't mind sweet) but it's just not been for me. I've currently got 4 Roses Small Batch and Eagle Rare at home, both are OK but take a little effort to drink and don't make me do the happy dance like other types do. |

Nice looking lineup, X Driver. Some tasty drams in there.
Love the Aberlour lineup. The 18 and the A'bunadh are both awesome, but pricey for a daily drink. The 12 stands in nicely for that. Dalmore 12 and Macallan 12 are also great options for a DD.

I can find the Hibiki 12 locally in a few places. Agreed, it's incredible. I actually just put my bottle under the cabinet so I wouldn't see it every night, as it's almost gone and I want to make sure to savor what is left. I'll buy it again but have a few other things to try first. |

Great thread, always preferred spirits to beer.
I like my Canadian Club Rye for mixing but my nightly sipper is usually an Amaro, my favourites being ..... |

I find bitters very pleasing, not too strong and you don't need to drop $150 a bottle to get something of high quality. I suspect you 'mericans would literally have kidney failure if you saw the price of booze here.
I suspect i like them because back home (Australia) all police vehicles carry breath testing equipment, you can be caught at any time if you risk it. So, we had DD's even 20 to 25 years ago, and most DD's drank lemon, lime and bitters in place of booze on a night out. |

^^ LOVE me some Kettle One. It and Russian Standard are my "go to" Vodkas. My absolute favorite though is called XO. I keep a bottle in the freezer. That stuff is beyond amazing.

Very nice bar, ShopVac.
Just poured myself a couple fingers of Aberlour 12 with a splash of seltzer. Tasty.

I was sipping Ty Ku last night, but mainly because it's the least-full bottle and the niece said she likes the shape of the bottle. Got to finish it before she comes by on Saturday to collect all the dead soldiers
