For a family of 5 (1 infant), I set a budget of $1,200 a month. Like the above poster said, freakin accountants, Yes, I'm one of them (CPA) so i definitely know where my money is going.

My 2 stepsons (19 and 17) absolutely love eating cereal so I really can't complain. However, the vehicle insurance....let's not get into that

Pizza Hut is charging $30 for a small pizza now? WTF. That makes me feel better about spending $20 a week on fresh Blueberries. High quality fresh meats and produce are expensive - no doubt about it. But a pizza from Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns or any of those chains that costs more than $10 seems too much to me.

SoCal is expensive for almost everything. If there’s one thing that might be more affordable, my guess would have been fresh food since a lot of it comes from CA and therefore transport costs should be lower. I guess that’s not the case.

That can't be right.

I just ordered a large two topping pizza from Pizza Hut the other day and it was $5.99 with free delivery. Only extras were tax and tip, so it was around $10 all in.

They do have a large 3 topping pizza special for delivery for $9.99, though. So not sure where you are coming up with $30.00 for a medium or small.

Meal prep for my wife and I is about $200 a week. High quality food though, 5 oz protein per meal for hers and 8 oz protein per meal for mine.

Maybe $50-75 per week eating out on average.

I went to Pizza Hut website and here is how much it costs to order a Supreme pizza which is about $22.50. You have to give tip to the delivery guy which is another $4 so it comes out to be around $27.0 total.

Between groceries/household supplies picked up at the market, take out and dining out we're probably around $1200 per month for two adults and our baby daughter. We eat a lot of Organic produce and meat, wild caught fish not farm raised etc. though so that definitely raises costs. Not to mention baby formula is a fortune lol

Well - no offense, man, but if you chose that option versus a 3 topping pizza in large size for $9.99 then you are just a fool. I can't help ya. Heck, I added the 'Supreme' toppings to the $9.99 special, and it still only came out to $13.99 - but hey, if you want to pay double for a smaller one - I guess that's your choice.

Yeah, but

1) you are now talking about a family of 5 or 6 versus a family of 3.

2) The increase in food consumption is offset by no diaper, formula, wipes, et al. Those things are quite pricey.

3) Bottom line, is that in America, on average, most families spend about $300 - $400 per month per person on groceries and going out to restaurants. I think those numbers are also pretty representative of the responses here in this post as well.

That thread does not exist, because absolutely none of us want our respective significant others to ever stumble across it - we aren't into the self-incriminating ways of Jussie Smollett.

I'm actually *pretty good* (in my opinion) when it comes to hardware stores. But just yesterday I took the car in because one of the tires was leaking from the rim (and I figured it was just grime / improper seal from rim to tire). But the shop took great delight in showing me that it was in fact a cracked rim, and that was why it was losing pressure.

Of course, it was a cracked OEM rim, so I called the dealer to see what it might cost to order in a new rim. They wanted $1,100 plus tax for one rim. After my ability to speak returned, I politely told them I'd call back if I needed it.

Wound up ordering 4 new aftermarket rims instead for less than $1,100 plus tax and I figure I can probably sell the OEM ones for a few bucks to lower my costs.

Kicker on this is my dearest wife is absolutely convinced that I do nothing but buy tires (and rims) for the car. I've tried to explain that I'm actually buying them for her car too, so she should cut her calculations and associated blame / guilting in half, but she isn't having it. The 12 to 16 tires in the basement probably was not helping my case. Most of them are gone now...now it is just 8 tires in the basement at any given time.

So I've decided the best policy here is to simply not tell her about the leak, cracked rim, or the subsequent four new rims that are going on the car on Monday / Tuesday and just wait and see if she notices. If she doesn't, then I'm free and clear. But I suspect the dog and I will be bedding together on Monday night.

The youngest just started Keto, so he is buying all his own protein. The oldest regularly buys a chicken, some bell peppers, and brown rice. With that he is set for a week (and the dog gets some good meals too!)

So it's basically the wife and I now. Last week we probably spent 350-400 just on restaurant food I bet teh wife spent 75 last night to get the immediate meal, plus the stuff that is in the crock pot right now.

Come Spring, 2021 I'll have an extra $3000/month since the house will be paid off
