Umm in what way?
The 765LT costs almost twice as much and is much more of a "look at me" car than the Porsche. The average person buying a GT3RS isn't cross shopping the 675LT. If anything it's closer to the GT2RS, and even then it's not really the same segment.

Youre right, this is light years ahead of a GT2RS. Standard 720S base spec would put a GT2RS to bed, let alone the LT variant.

You mean as opposed to the BMW engined F1 from more than two decades ago?
Or their partnership with Ricardo? It's not quite like they're just speccing an engine off the shelf, they're working with one of the best shops to develop their engines. |

No competition you say? Ever heard of the Aventador SVJ? Why talk about second place? The Manthey Racing time is not for a standard production car btw. The first GT2RS was produced in 2010. The 2nd in 2017. How long will we have to wait before the next one? A lot of the car's performance can be attributed to the tires. The Pista on the same tires (Cup 2 R's) has dusted the GT2RS on quite a few tracks. So yeah, there is competition, and the 765 LT will add to it. It will demolish it even further (as if the 720 S wasn't enough) in a straight line and will compete directly with the GT2RS as this is the track version of the 720S. Let's wait and see what times the 765 LT is capable of. I'm sure it won't disappoint. Last edited by Topspeed; 03-05-2020 at 01:14 AM.. |

720s with cup tires would probably beat the GT2RS. There are plenty of track tests where a regular 720s has beaten the gt2rs.
The 765LT will definitely beat the porsche. But there are other factors in which car you'd want to own besides performance. You will get insane attention in the mclaren, have much better ride quality on the street (hydraulic suspension), carbon tub, exotic looks, doors go up. The GT2RS will likely hold value better, have less problems, cheaper to own out of warranty, and be more understated. Not to mention mclarens service centers are few and far between compared to porsches. The 2016 Mclaren 675LT MSRP'd for nearly $400k, now you can get one for just above 200k. 2011 GT2 RS. MSRP $250k. Now selling for 300-400k. Just something to think about.

As a performance car, this is nothing short of incredible however there are a few areas Mclaren needs to work on-
1) That interior is very subpar for such an expensive car. 2) They have way too many models that they release that devalue the prior model instantly. 3) The relibility from and build quality from what I hear is so so.

Add another 50 K for Weissach package. Then there's the dreaded Porsche ADM, where all prices are set by the dealer. Many have paid up to $500 k for a GT2RS, which you can pick up for ~300 K today (Weissach Package) While we're on the subject of resale value, why isn't anyone bringing up the McLaren F1? |

The GT2RS (nonMR) and GT3RS on the list are both stock offerings which in itself is a feat. Im sure Ferrari could compete but it does make you wonder why they dont benchmark at the Ring since its the easiest objective way to measure performance. That doesnt speak to the unique points and designs of cars in this realm, some will like Mcs, some will like Lambos, some will like Ferrari, and some will like P-cars. But the performance is the measure that is not objective and when you said the 765 was light years ahead of the last generation GT cars, and then see the performance stats posted, doesnt seem to match reality. Oh and the maclarens cant hold value compares to a GT car if that matters. It will be fun to see the next battle when the 992s can be compared to this offering. |

While the 765LT looks awesome, I've never really liked the styling of the 720. The LT does make it a bit more appealing, but IMO the 600LT is drop dead gorgeous.

However the 765 does look better in just about every aspect except the tragic matte finish. |

This is 9.5/10 for me. I'm a HUGE sucker for purple. The 600LT just looks so much more...menacing? I'd love to own one one day. Can't wait to get a look at the 765LT though, the Senna at a recent C&C blew me away.
*10/10 for me is a 991.2 GT3 in Ultraviolet with yellow calipers and 6MT. Yummy* |
