My friend on the north side of the lake checked in safe last night. Running a generator and has WiFi. Less than 2ft of water in the bottom level (garage), so minimal damage for them.

About 10 years ago, I was putting on an autocross event at Nassau Coliseum (Lawn Guyland, home of the NY Islanders) when the state's daily 13+ inches rainfall record was set down the road a few exits. Estimates were that we had about 9" of rain dumped on us over the time of our event, but the lot's drainage system mostly kept up with the monsoon-like downpours all day. It was coming down so hard that I actually had to use a corner worker person with a push broom as the official timing/scoring popup tent roof-dumper, pushing up the four sides of the tent every few minutes to dump the ponding water before it could break the frame or rip the canvas. Fun times, and I am still amazed when I think about the driver turnout for such miserable weather.....

I think that was tropical storm lee. First and only time I've ever had water in my basement. We got 10 inches of rain here

Hopefully they're all OK, and I really hope that they didn't try to ride out a CAT4 storm at home. I'm from Florida, if it was over a CAT2 I got the hell outta dodge. CAT4s and 5s will kill you.
