My dad was a weird, weird man. He was dressed like a homeless on his spare time, and he attended to his potatoes more than he did to most of other things. Going for a walk with the dogs with him as always a chess game.

My kids got a book each from my dad, and then something from the gift shop. When we moved here, I found the cards from my kiddos luggage.

When I asked my kids why they packed those the answer was:

"mom we are because of genes going to be weird and weird. Iimu (that's what they called my dad) taught us it's not wrong. We want to remember that small things matter too"

I've explained to them how much waste a toy gotten is and how much good the money spent elsewhere can make.

Those gifts matter to the person who's name they were donated too.

Wade you are an example to us all.

Next year you'll get a raise, and give a little more. Pretty soon you'll be in the habit of being a decent human being, and giving whole herds of goats to less fortunate people, then you receive your real Christmas present.
