First off - there's way too many cat pictures in a row...a moderator should do something about this, but since they're asleep, I'll try to fix this my way.
Got the outside furniture set up...which makes for some nice relaxing lazy evenings. Goofball likes it.

Secondly - I'm (sadly) still holding up to my side of the bargain. This guy is currently 6 weeks old (picture may be a week or so ago). We've been interviewed for adoption - and have been approved. They even called our vet to discuss our dogs' demeanor - which they got raving reviews (of course).
While this may be the guy...we have not pushed the mom aside. My thoughts are, if she doesn't get adopted within a few weeks - we'll take her in too. She's young (have pics of here too - looks spot on to this one) but was told she will find a good home quickly. It will cost my wife an additional 991 911 GTS 7MT if we need to home her. Deals for this is in place...so quietly, I'm currently looking for that too. Need some names, because I'm not calling it what my wife tried telling me. Trying to tell her it's Bimmer...but don't think it's sticking either. Here's the little stud cat.

I heard someone is looking for more dog pics?
First is an old picture I came across of the late, great Angus. Next is Winston and Ginger taking over the couch in Asheville.

In keeping with the 'less cats' postings...
Albeit a tad early, this little guy, in two months, will have been with me for 21 years. Obtaining him early July, 2003. I can only assume he was a couple months old when I got him...so he's clear to drink legally now (though, been dosing Vodka since he was a yute). Little guy eats out of my hand every single morning.

In case anyone isn't aware of the special day, next week is take your dog to work day (and take your pet to work week):
https://www.petsit.com/takeyourdog/ My mean soon-to-be-former employer will not make a one-day exception to their policies so that I can bring OCD psycho dog to my office, but did approve me to hijack a bulletin board in a high-traffic lobby for employees to post pictures and descriptions of their pets next week. I'm also reaching out to the area's animal rescues, to post adoption info and donation/volunteer opportunities.....

So we've been pet-less for 5 years. Sure, we have our dealings with rescue kittens and babysit our son's and one neighbor's dogs, but haven't had one to call ours. Being senior citizens made me cautious about acquiring a kitten (our last cat, a 2 year old rescue, made it to 19), so the thought was if an older rescue turned up, we might take the plunge.
Well it happened two days ago. The rescue my wife has connections to received this 6-8 year old girl. Originally a young stray, she was found with a broken tail (which was amputated), adopted but her owner passed away with no one to take her. So we arranged a meet...she's incredibly sweet (her purr motor really runs) so the decision to adopt was easy. Right now she and us are getting used to the new arrangement...it's going well. |

Is for me
Except today, because the dogs need to visit their grandparents once a week. Sure feels like having kids...

Semi-noob questions for owners of more than one cat...
We have a line on a pair of young males from a kitten rescue place. I have owned cats for 30+ years, but never more than one. My questions: -- Males versus females; any comments? My recent cats have all been females, although my first cat was a very sweet male. What difference(s), if any, is there in ownership? -- Feeding and watering: Do two cats eat from the same bowl or should I plan for two food setups? Although I have just used a bowl of water in the past, my intent is to get a fountain; I assume one fountain and two cats is fine. -- Litter box: Unlike my previous cats, these will be exclusively indoor cats. One (larger) litter box OK? Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

Have had many, simultaneous, both male and female.
Strongly suggest using two bowls, and even better, an automated feeder on schedule. Don't leave food out all the time, invariably one will hog the food, as well as it being a possible ant draw. A good automatic feeder is expensive but worth it. yes, fountains are a good idea, cats love running water, and it keeps the water fresh. One fountain is fine, but definitely give them each their own food dish. For litter, rule of thumb is one box per cat. They and you will appreciate it in the long run. |
