I don't normally touch pharma stocks, but this was a friend's recommendation. Risky - either going to 0 or $2+.
I got cold feet when there was no news on Friday and sold for +25%. Good thing as it was denied by FDA for the US

VJET...called for it at 32.00...called the exact top to within the hour at 70.00...called for bottom at 32.00ish...called the exact top at 47.50 and missed by 9 cents lol...called for bottom again recently at 37.00...today it hit 43.00 during a big selloff day for general mkts.

I like VJET.......like it on long side you just gotta know when to buy and sell...trade this one back and forth.

I am going to start charging PSU for my services from now on....

Great tip, but like you said you need to know when to buy and sell.
Do you think it’s too late to jump on it now? Should we wait for a drop to buy again? Maybe at $35?

Can you give me one indicator or way for which you catch these tops and bottoms so well? It's so accurate it's unbelievable, man.

Information / Opinions

Gents,
I've been following this thread and have learned much; however I still consider myself a novice investor. That said, it seems there is much speculation about a strong downturn sometime this year.

After the run up we have experienced would it make sense to move a % of 401K funds into something fixed within the program (to hopefully preserve gains) and then move back after a downturn? Most people seem to think it's better to not attempt to time the market, but these colleagues are not financial analysts. I'm open to any opinions...
Thanks

Thanks
My dad's 55 and has done just that. He's got about $2M sitting in insured deposit accounts (i.e. cash) earning squadoosh and about $3M still remaining in the market (well, strictly speaking his 401k is like 1.7 and the remaining 3.3 is just what he's accumulated in addition to that).

Unfortunately he got out of the rally a bit early (when S&P was in the mid 1700s), but it's hard to blame him. He had to suffer through 2 stock market crashes and it's really kind of killed his net worth given how much he saves. Fortunately, when he entered the workforce back in the late 80s it was on the heels of "black monday" of 1987, so that helped to mitigate the effects of the subsequent crashes somewhat.

I think the most important factor is how old you are. If you're nearing retirement and you're well on pace to save what you need, your strategy will be different versus if you're nearing retirement and not on pace or if you're still very young.

I'm assuming you have your 401k set up similar to my dad's where there is very little involvement from wealth managers (in order to minimize fees as much as possible) and most of your money is invested in index funds and/or is left up to you.

Let me preface this by saying I know next to nothing about stock markets or investing in general, but there are certain financial instruments that act as "hedges" if you're anticipating a downturn in the market. Think TVIX (which is at an all time low at the moment).

My vague understanding of TVIX is that it goes up or down by a factor of >1 (as a percentage) opposite to what the S&P 500 does. If the S&P 500 goes up by .1%, TVIX loses, I don't know, 1.5%. It's not exactly that simple but I think that's roughly how it works.

Most of the time, you're almost guaranteed to lose money on such an investment but once in a blue moon if you really think the market is about to crash, it might not be such a bad idea to put a very, very small portion of your portfolio into an instrument like this.

Again, let me emphasize that you should take my "advice" with a grain of salt because I'm as naive (if not more naive) about investing than you are, but it's a thought.

Anyone who actually knows what they're doing feel free to chime in on the pros and cons of considering something like TVIX at this point in time.

What you are seeing is a lot of people trying to call the top. Ignore the noise. Your investment strategy takes into account your risk tolerance, time horizon, and objectives. If you think it is the appropriate time to rotate your funds into something else, then by all means do so. You are the only one here who would lose sleep if you lost all of your money.
