Well... Once again, it happens!

Now let's set the scene right. 2020 M240, just cracked 18k miles, so it's seldom I take her out. Even more seldom I'll go somewhere that requires parking it in a lot for a commercial retail establishment.

So there you have it, pick a spot that's a nice walk away from ANYTHING! And come out returning to the car to see this! Yeah you can park anywhere of course. But this guy is lucky my wife was with me or I would've waited for him to return and provide realization for the error and return the F U appropriately!

Realize that the pictured #vanlife van is probably worth 3x what your car is, and the driver was courteous enough to park their vehicle in a way that none of their doors would ding your car. The aftermarket nerf running boards on that thing cost over two grand alone.

Agree that he/she could have parked one space over.....

And tell your wife if she is alone to be REAL careful around big vehicles parked right by her car. It's a pretty common carjack/mugging ploy, would've hinked me out a little. And thanks for Vreihen's nicer take on it, probably right that he is doing you a favor but I'm a cynical sob at this point.

Let me say simply, the fact that the other car may be worth more than mine, doesn't give it license to be an idiot! Maybe he got out of his van easy, but he was so close to me I had to squeeze into my door. And like I said, he's just lucky I was with my wife, because the joke would've been on him eating from a straw for 6 months! Lucky too that I didn't take the valves out of the stems on his tires! That thought did cross my mind!

Is pretty funny how you think somehow this guy did the right thing! Weird funny, like warped! Trying to justify it?

Bottom line is he should thank his lucky starts that Karma favored him today! Action has consequences, and hopefully Karma will pay him back otherwise.

To be fair, from your picture, it doesn't seem as if that van was that close to your car. If you took the picture at more of a head on angle where we could see the spacing between your car and the van, we would understand your reaction.

From experience, it was a bit too close to his car if the van's passenger side tires weren't on its parking space lines...especially with the nerf running boards. Those beasts are wiiiiiiide!

I'm not trying to justify the van driver's jackwagon parking, because I agree that he/she could have moved over one space or over against the concrete island a whole 15 feet away in the next empty row.....

Now I'm more worried about Colonblow and his urges to make people eat thru a straw. There really are worse things than bad parking.

Looks like they're both centered in the spots, from the picture.

I'm sure that it is closer to the lines than it looks on the other side, before factoring in the flagrant violation of the unspoken urinal rule.

I do get a chuckle thinking that there is a #vanlife forum in some parallel universe where a van owner is chiding a BMW driver for selfishly parking in what they perceive to be their home[less] camp site, because they spent so much money on their Instagram van that they can't afford a house or to stay at a campground.....

The guy was actually protecting your car and stopping a clapped out Infinity from parking next to you. Stop the whinning and be thankful for the van driver being proactive. I've done this with my POS Chevy SUV because I too park my M3 far away nad have had a shitbox parked next to me afterwards.

So I've been frequenting this parking lot at my local Kent (DIY) store quite a bit lately. Yesterday I saw a lovely old MB which I posted a photo of to "Cool Pic Thread- Vehicles". Some of you may have noticed it.

Today when I pulled in I noticed a nice, old Camaro sitting way out in the nether acres of the parking lot. As I was driving the "Office" ( crew cab with full 8' box) I parked out there too. I don't fit in one parking spot so as not to be a dick I choose to walk. I left two empty spaces between me and the Camaro. There was nobody parked between him and the store. I was inside no more than 10 minutes. When I came out this is what I saw... some moron in a Mazda jammed right up beside him! Why? There was more than enough room to stay away which is obvious from the photos. He did at least leave enough room for opening doors without any risk of dings but still...
