Sure, but Ham typically sets his car up for race paces vs qualifying trim (versus someone like Russell) I can't say it's the same for everyone else.

I can say that in the actual race, RB had the most pace.

His car was almost undriveable in the way it was setup for the dry yet you'd hardly know it the way he reeled in Ham and Nor at the end of the inters stint. That is truly a guy who transcends the sport and raises it to a level know one ever has because he's just a raw talent that is special in how he goes about it; think of the likes of Michael Jordan in basketball, Mickey Mantel in baseball, or Djokovic/Federer in tennis, Tom Brady in football. Simply someone who is better than all those who came before and yet he is still growing at not even hit his high water mark.

It would be interested to see F1 move to spec cars...I think Max would dominate even more than his record and best F1 seasons ever we saw in 2021, 2022, and 2023. How you even have 3 record breaking seasons in a row, and knowing his car was slower in 2021, and slower in the first half of 2022 is a level I'm not even sure the GOAT Schumacher ever did - at least not that I can remember.
Agree that Max is a superior driver. But I also think Alonso has proven (with several cars) that he can get more out of a car than other drivers. And certainly Vettel in his prime did it. And of course Schumacher. But certainly at the age that Alonso's at, it's amazing.

Honestly, Vet was good for a period of time but fell off hard - or was it the usual Ferrari just destroying drivers.
To me, after Max, Alo is the second most talented in F1 currently. I think these two are the ones I would go after to lead an Indy, Le Mans, WEC team because they win and would win there (or already have in Alo's case). Most other F1 drivers would be too timid because of the balance of power and it would certainly expose many more like we have seen others exposed.

We know Max sets his car up for the race, but yet he hold the record for the most poles in a row and most to start a season. Know he uses a compromised quali setup is impressive to be that fast but it all comes down to the race craft and ability to lengthen the straights, use precise braking and steering input along the friction circle to get the car rotated and lined up again for maximum traction and he does that the best.

Max's car was the 3rd fastest in overall pace in the race over the course of the first 2 stints - he was 3 and 1/2 tenths slower in race pace.

i don't know man, Antonio Giovinazzi, Brendon Hartley, Kamui Kobayashi and Sebastian Buemi, all ex F1 drivers who didn't go far in F1 have made a name in endurance racing and are very successful

i think F1 is more circus and glamour, endurance racing is more wheel to wheel, get job done.

no doubt Max will do well in endurance racing, he already does well in sim racing.

Alonso hasn’t done anything since he resigned, not sure what is going on there. You hate to see it.

I want to have a dream where RB gives him Perez’s seat and I don’t wake up. Or, more likely, Newey lands at AM next year.

Not sure what is going on there...I almost wonder if he's kind of getting to the point where he isnt motivated anymore.

You know my friend , pushing it hard over the mountain passes is really fun (!)

I'm pretty sure , Artemis really enjoyed it
M2C is perfect for a trip of this kind if you haven't too much luggage.
Quick OT before getting back on-topic: Let me keep it to stating that regularly driving mountain passes is a great pastime in a great environment, appealing to all senses.

Everybody forgetting that CLC was 1000% screwed by Ferrari strategy of putting on Inters 2 (?3) laps before everybody else. That 2 laps of Ferrari Plan F destroyed CLC. Again. How many times can you destroy a CLC? Answer: again and again.

We can all relax a bit now and catch up on the gardening or other what nots as Hungary GP is in a fortnight, even the most dedicated fans need a break.
Interestingly I read that official ticket packages are sold out for this race, hardly surprising as its the most cost effective one out of all of them for fans.

I recall you had a grey M2 before.

* By the way I saw the late Dackelone's posted vid on driving positions and learnt a few things from it in that what you think is the most comfortable position for you is not the correct one for all round driving.
The straight arm driving position Bullit had in his Mustang (from the film) is not the best way to drive fast and was just for cinema viewer impact.

Sky spoke to Merc and found that Max and Bono set up the car to be easy on tires in case they needed to go extended stints in the race in mixed conditions.

This means the Merc don't put heat on the tires unlike McLaren who put in a lot of heat in their tires.

This explains why the Mercs could not hold tire temps when the rain came down and the McLarens who put plenty of heat in the tires passed them like they're standing still.

Also explain why Norris's new softs did not last the distance in the end despite pitting later than Lewis on used softs.

I cannot fathom why he actually believes in staying there. They have done the same to Sai many times and if Ham thought he was being 'sabotaged' at MB - that's every weekend at Ferrari.

Alonso is a good driver, but we already seen what he could do at his peak and it was basically Ham's baseline. I never really bought into his hype, but I can't deny he's pretty good.
