BIMMERPOST App 5.x Thread (iPhone/iPad/Android)

On iOS app, I’ve noticed after copying and pasting something into a reply, the text box I’m typing in above the keyboard resizes to extend behind the keyboard and I cannot see what I am typing or scroll to select or edit text that goes beyond the top of my screen. I don’t have the problem on regular replies, only once something has been pasted in (like a link to another thread)

Honestly, the app has been complete garbage when it comes to threads with a lot of photos or YouTube videos imbedded in it. It locks up and freezes often as of late. The photos are now squished and totally out of proportion on the iPad version. Threads with YouTube videos embedded, the whole app will often lock up and the only way to get it responsive again is to quit the app and relaunch. Even then it will typically lock up again when going back to the same thread. I’ll often times have to wait for a new reply to the thread before I can open it and be able to scroll past to/past the post with the videos embedded in it.

Don't know how it works at the App Store but maybe they're in-between versions and maybe the latest revision is being reviewed for approval.

I say check back at the App Store every couple of days. I'll check too and report here if I see it. As of this writing it's not there.

apptest I noticed a minor spelling error in the app settings. In the “Editor Settings” view, the word Submitting is misspelled with a third ‘t’. See attached screenshot.

This is BIMMERPOST 6.2.2 on iOS 17.4.1 on my iPhone 13 mini.

Hey apptest, another Q. When you released this app, I asked about using the iPad Magic Keyboard trackpad to be able to swipe (left to right) to go back out of a thread. I just got a new iPad and just wondering if that’s something that could be implemented.

Hi I just released version 6.3.0 to the App Store. It *might* have that functionality now. Could you try it and let me know if it does or does not work? I don’t have a physical iPad keyboard to de skip on unfortunately so I’m using a bit of guesswork 😂

Hi, thanks, i just updated and it does not work. Can still scroll up and down, but the swipe right or left doesn’t do anything.

Edit: I do appreciate you even attempting it, can’t imagine anyone else but me has asked.

I don’t remember this behavior before the update.. swiping on the trackpad from right to left on subscribed threads allows me to unsubscribe.

Interesting it sounds like it’s acting as if you swiped directly on the screen.
In other apps, swiping back on the trackpad actively swipes the window closed right? Is there an example app you can name that I can try to dissect?

The only app that ever implemented anything cool for it was the old Apollo app for Reddit. Swiping across the tool bar on the bottom of the app would bring you back to the previous page.

Also, since updating (confirmed on iPhone too), refreshing the subscriptions seems to cause read posts to appear as unread.

Honestly, if it’s something you can do, cool, but don’t work too hard on it, the app is still very useable.

Ok yea trying to make something happen. I don’t think Apple has an inbuilt way to read such a swipe so I’m trying to figure it out. Let’s call it a long term project for now

Yes I’m seeing that too. Maybe not just subscriptions but everywhere? Hmm. New bug!!👎

Ok got the bug fixed and released a new version 6.3.1. Thanks for the report. It helped me actually solve another deeper underlying problem that’s been there for years. So a twofer 👍

Curious, what was that deeper underlying problem? Could mess around and try to find it but thought it was just easier to ask. Is it something us users would notice?
