MAX ran with too much wing at Miami . His topspeed was 309 km/h at the straight .
That was before MAX got the hole in his floor ...
Lando pulled there 330+ km/h . The McLaren was faster and Lando was faster at Miami .
It was a well deserved win for Lando !

Sure . LEW's rocket PU was 30 km/h faster at the straight .

That's why I said : If LEW wasn't so stupid with his brake magic nonsense ...
Useless to say that LEW had the stronger and faster car , but MAX was the better driver in the slower car !

Even a blind man would see that...

Nah. The strategy was simple. Everybody knew how the rules applied until Masi added his one-off touch. The safety car was going to eat all remaining the laps, and sadly but sometimes that's how racing goes, the race and the championship were going to end behind the safety car.

Verstappen is extremely talented. He will win many more races and championships. Hopefully more than Hamilton. I'd love to see those records broken. But 2021 was Hamilton's.

Nah, MB assumed the race would end behind the safety car. They had no assurance the track couldn't be cleared in time. MB got it wrong and RB got lucky. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

And you say you're a Ferrari fan...Michael Masi chose to only allow those cars between leader Lewis Hamilton and second-placed Max Verstappen to be waved by.
Lapped cars behind Verstappen were told to stay put, including those that were between the Dutchman and third placed Carlos Sainz. Just point to a previous F1 race where the cars from third place back were made to take the green behind lapped cars. It was wrong.

I am a Ferrari fan but they weren't in the fight for WDC. My only real interest in this race was the battle between VER and HAM. Yes, I'm glad HAM lost.

But, Just because it never happened before doesn't mean it was wrong. Does anyone have the exact wording of the rule that was in place in 2021?

Wording of the new rule?

Masi had no ill intent. Plus, if there was NO gray area why did it need to be changed or clarified?

Since teams agreed to try and end under green flag conditions I think a red flag would have been best. But I seem to remember that wasn't an option under the regs

Anyway, this will never be settled, good night all.

McLaren fan as well. Lando did a fantastic job, my opinion the second best driver on the grid. With that said the SC was very timely, I don't see Lando driving through field if the SC hadn't happened.

Apparently RB found a hole in Max's floor after the race. In slow-mo you can see the base of bollard that is bolted to the ground send pieces of carbon out the back of the RB. Horner said after the bollard incident, Max was losing 2 to 3 tenths in turn 1 every lap.

With that said, Max wasn't comfortable in the car all weekend. He made the mistake and the SC went Lando's way. Miami and Singapore seem to be RB's worst races all year. I hope these McLaren upgrades are the real deal and they can start challenging Ferrari for second in points.

nobody is taking credit from Lando, but fact is he was lucky and Oscar wasn't.

Luck or no luck Lando arrived at the tape 7 seconds sooner and MAX couldn't chase because of SC placings at that exact moment which fell into the lap of Lando, also dud hards with more possible damage from the kerb jumper, MAX was in fact even more fortunate that the slim bollard didn't slither into an air intake, why was it even there smack in the middle of the kerb turn.

Yeah think this is the most impressive part of that upgrade package. Mcl have struggled all year with top speed and vulnerability with DRS. This weekend had no issues compared to the field.
RB usually tend to run a lot more wing as there aerodynamic efficiency allows it, this package allowed Mcl to do something similar.

Sure Lando got lucky with the SC but it really comes down to Max made one little mistake (Which we have seen shockingly few of) and Lando had a flawless race.

It was reportedly there to help drivers sight the curb

Hammy reported having trouble after Max took it out.

Couldn't agree more. Current cars and regs are absolutely ridiculous. Someone needs to remind the FIA that Formula 1 isn't WEC, it's karting on steroids.
