Very nice, congrats! That's a great average pace for that distance.

Santa to the Sea dates already announced in December
Went out after work. Could only cover 4, and paced at about 7:15

I'm maybe 5 minutes in last night, and the local weather tells me "rain will start in 7 minutes" Well, it IS SoCal.

In keeping with that weather tradition, by the time I got home about 30 minutes later, I couldn't tell if I was glistening from sweat, or rain

Hahaha - i hear you! Every now and then, though, running in some rain can be nice. Like if it's hot out and it's just a bit of a drizzle, the rain can be nice.

Injured my IT Band about 5 weeks ago, pain radiated to the outside of my left knee..have not run since, but doing stretches and strenghtening exercises....looking fwd to getting out there again. Hate the wait, but I have learned if you dont give yourself time to recover/heal you will never get off the injured "bandwagon"...

I signed up here to ask questions about the purchase of a 2025 X5 50e. Since I have to make a certain number of posts and I spotted this running thread I figure I can modestly contribute.

3 weeks ago I ran the Istria 100k in Umag, Croatia. I'm running Western States 100 at the end of June, and the UTMB 171k at the end of August. Then in October I'm running the Marine Corps marathon to finish out the year.

So I guess I could call myself a runner. FYI Croatia was beautiful, it was spring there and everything was green and the trees were blooming.

I run about 2,400 miles a year or so at age 56. Many of my miles are easy, and a lot of them are trail with lots of hill work.

Anyway that's my year, looking forward to actually resting at the end of the year already heh.

2400 miles per year is a lot of volume! I work to maintain a "measly" 1,000 miles per year. haha So, good for you!

Ok, running fans, turned 61 on July 16 and as I stated before, I celebrated it with a 3:30am wake up call for a 4am start of my annual, on my own, 1/2 marathon run.

I was at North Miami Beach last week and ran along the beach running/walking trail.

At that early in the morning, temps were low 80s, but humidity was an a@@ kicker. I had planned for this annual ritual and anticipated the humidity, so i brought in my trusty two running bottles and filled them with gatorade. So I stayed hydrated.

I ended up with some crazy “runners toes” ugly to see. I think my running shoes are done. Strangely enough, I had no issues with runners toes in the past.

So the question is this: what are your proven tricks to prevent runners toes? 3 days later I ran 7 miles with same shoes and I made them worst. Fire away with ur ideas. I have ditched the running shoes, which already had 350 miles in them anyway

Ouch, weird that you never had the issue. I do wonder if the shoes broke down, stretched, and lost some of the lock down and securement. Maybe that's just enough to allow your feet to move and smash into the toe box?

At any rate, probably no magic bullet to offer since everyone is so different, but I personally have tried to migrate to shoes with wider toe boxes. Shoe company's seem to be trending this way overall, but some more so than others, like Altra. I also pretty religiously wear Injinji toe socks for running also which is also polarizing

Hard to tell what happened to your toes, I suspect the humidity doesn't help. I always lube the tops of my toes for very long runs. However I ran WS100 5 weeks ago and I lost 3 toenails, I didn't even feel two of them bothering me during the race. One hurt horribly for the last 40 miles, but the damage was already done.

Any time there is wet clothing rubbing across skin for long enough it rubs the skin raw, either try lube of socks that don't bunch or slide across the skin.

No one has posted in here for a bit, but I just signed up for my first Half Marathon in April and very likely after that I'll do the Full Marathon.

Someone shared something about the registration opening and I went.. Well, why not? I already run pretty regularly although only doing 2-4 miles. Have quite a bit of time until it happens so I hope I can keep the motivation up until then.

I signed up for Santa to the Sea again, but I wouldn't exactly call what I've been doing lately to be "running" Age and weight have really snuck up on me since my shoulder surgery 18 months ago.
Hopeful I can finish the 5K. Next option up would be doing it sub-35. . . but "competition" always tends to make me run faster than I train.

Good luck to you both! I know racing really helped me reinvigorate my passion for running. I know that if I go too long without a race now, I'll start just getting slower and maybe do less miles. So, the goals and the racing keep me going.

I was supposed to have a race today, but it was canceled because the organizers are from Tampa (even though the race is nowhere close to that). Best of luck to them with rebuilding... and a reminder for me to look for another race.

Just got home from a Wash. DC trip. The wife and I ran the Marine Corps marathon, then did some sightseeing aft for a couple days. The race was fun, a bit bigger than I like with 16,000 runners or so. It has a fun route that goes nearby some of the monuments and finishes up at the Marine memorial. I ran with my wife so my time was slow, and she just ran a 100 mile trail race three weeks before so I wanted her to finish and get her medal.

I am done racing for the year, unless I run a Turkey Trot. I am going to take a bit of a break and think about next year. I did not finish UTMB this year I only made it 78 miles so I might try and go back and do that.

Other than that I am looking to just run for fun, and now that it is cooler run with my girl dog more.
