The chase is the fun the part. I like a challenge; she is a challenge. One challenge is distance. I travel in-between NY and IL. LDRs don't work with her.

I usually go in expecting absolutely nothing but a nice dinner/lunch/coffee. Expectations are usually beat.

within my family, friends, yes I am definitely the odd man out.. so I don't know if I'm just honest, or the weird one
I think you will just find your own level, in accordance to what society accepts of you.
But never live according to what society wants from you, expects of you - this will only please the person with these expectations of you, not yourself.
The process of maturation/indepedence is re-orienting yourself to your own goals and desires, so that you are no longer subconciously fulfilling the goals of your parents/society.. before finding out it's too late.
