Too lazy to read through all 11 pages but... the title of this thread doesn't make sense. Out of all the 30,000-point scorers in NBA history, Kobe took more and missed more shots to reach that plateau. "Lebrick" WILL get to 30,000-points and I can guarantee he'll get there with less shots and less misses.

Whoever said anything about who is better? I merely stating that the title is a misconception in calling Lebron the name "LeBrick", which insinuates that Lebron is a poor shooter.

If basketball had a WAR rating, it wouldn't tell the tale of who is better. I could guarantee you that Lebron would have a better WAR than Kobe, but it doesn't tell me who is better.

Bron makes his teammates better because he gets everyone else involved...

not only is he a better distributor, he can score damn near at will and not have to take 21 shots to do it.....

Die hard Lakers fan here but I can easily see that LeBron is better than Kobe. Loved Kobe in his #8 fro days. So raw and dunking on everyone. But overall, LeBron is the better player.

I still think Kobe is a better spot up shooter and being clutch in key moments. But Lebron is a better all around player, offensively and defensively.

I think Lebron is working hard and slowly improving in his spot up shooting and will definitely be one of the strongest shooters next season.

I have been watching NBA since 1990 and there are ONLY number of games I miss each season. I don’t love or hate either player so my comments are 110% unbiased.

There is no way you can compare 2 players without breaking comparison into pieces. I am going to exclude MJ since he is a class of his own that no one else belongs. Also this thread is about Kobe vs LBJ.

Also it doesn’t make any sense to compare 34 year old player to 28. So I will compare their carriers instead of what they can do today.

- Scoring:
LBJ has improved his scoring tremendously in the last 2 seasons by adding his post up moves. But over all Kobe has been a better scorer than LBJ. So Kobe > LBJ : Kobe=1, LBJ=0

- Rebounding:
Well, there is no comparison here. LBJ > Kobe : Kobe=1, LBJ=1

- Passing
Again, there is no comparison here. LBJ > Kobe : Kobe=1, LBJ=2

- Defending:
Kobe is a solid defender but LBJ is a MUCH better defender. LBJ > Kobe : Kobe=1, LBJ=3

- Efficiency:
Many people don’t realize the importance of efficiency. LBJ has been improving his efficiency every year (way over 50% now while Kobe has always been sub 45% scorer) LBJ > Kobe : : Kobe=1, LBJ=4

- Playing multiple positions:
Kobe can play 2 position at best. But LBJ can play 4 positions. LBJ > Kobe : Kobe=1, LBJ=5

- Being clutch:
LBJ’s biggest weakness was running away from a big shot when it really counts. He has done this many many times in the past. But he has tremendously improved in the last 2 years as we saw him taking big shots in playoffs. But Kobe has never run away biggest moments. Actually he always wanted to be in that situation. So Kobe > LBJ : Kobe=2, LBJ=5

- Being a better leader/making teammates better/sharing the ball:
Kobe has the worst team leader super star ever play the game. Yes he has improved a lot which helped him win 2 rings after Shaq. On the other side LBJ has been a great team leader since day one. That’s how he was able to take shitty Cleveland to finals. Yes he handles his departure from Cleveland as poorly as could be but this doesn’t make him a bad team leader. LBJ > Kobe : Kobe=2, LBJ=6

So, in the end, LBJ > Kobe (6 to 2). Yes Kobe has 5 rings but this can not be the only factor determining who is better. Kevin Durant will probably never win a championship because he play for a small market team which can not effort spending money in a way that Lakers or Miami can. Also LBJ will probably win 2 or more rings before he retires.

I just don't think Lebron will ever become a better shooter than Kobe. Shooting just isn't Lebron's game. Lebron is more of a finisher around the rim or penetrate and dish type of player. He rarely creates his own shot with a jump shot.

found this interesting from Phil Jackson's new book

In his new book “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success”, Phil Jackson tells a great story from a meeting he helped arrange between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant during the 1999-2000 season. Kobe, who we know thinks quite highly of his own abilities, told MJ (who had retired from the NBA for a second time) that he could take him one-on-one when they saw each other in Chicago that year. In the book, Jackson writes that Jordan was a considerably superior player and leader to Bryant. Per the LA Times: “It’s pretty easy to figure out who Jackson was referencing in the following passage: ‘In his mind he had it all figured out. His goal was to become the greatest basketball player of all time. And he was certain he knew what he had to do to get there. Why should he listen to anybody else? If he followed my advice and cut back his scoring, he’d fall short of his ultimate goal. How was I going to get through to this kid?’ It wasn’t Jordan. As a young 20-something, Bryant told Lakers teammates he wanted to win 10 rings but was a ‘stubborn, hard-headed learner,’ Jackson wrote. [...] Jackson couldn’t help but include a humorous face-to-face meeting between Bryant and Jordan in his first season as the Lakers’ coach. ‘Kobe was hell-bent on surpassing Jordan as the greatest player in the game.
