They grow up so fast. Scrappy and Pigpen are nearly ready for release back into the wild. They are fully weened and on to solid food. Practicing all sorts of life skills in their "skills lab" which is really just a big plastic tub full of things to climb on, hide in, and build nests out of.

The mice are in their release pen. It's designed to give them a good start out in the wild. There's a nesting area with 2 exits in case of danger. A food cache area that'll hold a couple weeks of food. The "hallways" on either end have ingress/egress holes that are offset from the holes to get into the core of the pen, thus reducing drafts and ensuring predators like cats can't reach in with a paw or even look in and see the mice in their central nest. Ingress/egress holes are 3/4 inch so rats and other predators can't get in. The overhangs of the roof provide rain coverage but also protection from overhead predators.
So far they love it. Zipping around all over and exploring. |

Tomorrow is Tilly's 2nd birthday. Her friends at play date threw her a little party...
As usual she loves the hat!

My Mum sent me a picture of Charlotte, a Maine Coon, with her new toy. It has catnip and a small motor that makes it jump. Apparently, she just goes nuts with it.

I have called 6 vet clinics today. I don’t understand how a horse that can’t walk isn’t considered an emergency. It’s infuriating. Finally have one coming out now. If you’re religious, a small prayer would be appreciated. I’ve had her since she was in utero 18 years ago. This picture was from 2 days ago, playing in a bush, now half her hoof is gone and she can’t walk

Sorry to hear that. Any idea what caused the hoof injury?
My aunt & uncle have had tons of horses over the years and my aunt is a vet pharmacist. They now board for people traveling through W. Nashville, so I've been around horses tons growing up. Hope she feels better!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past 23 years of owning horses, it’s that the equestrian community comes together like none other. I have so many people contacting me about her, giving recommendations, and praying for her. I’m trying my best to hold myself together. I cried hysterically all night. You’re not supposed to lose your horse at 17. My heart is breaking into a million pieces. |
