And then if you asked about anything wheels or suspension related all they would say is you need an 18x10 and 18x11 staggered set up (mind you, it's FWD) and you need coilovers that can go hella low or just go straight to bags.

Worst community ever. I'm over it. Time for another BMW daily.
I think this one is available? It looks like it could have been Verbiage 's old car.

Can't you just rotate tires left-right and get the use of the full tread?

Speaking of VW, there's a picture out there somewhere of me shirtless, in pajama pants lowering a rebuilt VR6 into my old Passat. For which I was immediately called gay by my car friends.

Next BP goat donation, maybe I'll dig it up.

Yeah, eff that. I'm out. I need more sensible people in my life, like you guys.

Although, I get a few thumbs up every week from all kinds of people in the GLI. People love it. Not sure if a 335/435 will get that kind of love. Not that it matters.

When you mod the 335i it's not going to matter, you'll get more responses LOL.

And WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE THINK?!?!!?!

Speaking of VW, i was the first car stopped at a light on a 3 lane HWY. A new VW beetle catches my mirror as a streak and it i could hear the tires protesting about 1 car length behind me. Tires yelping, she goes by me at about 35mph headed straight for an old lady in a corolla doddlilng through the large intersection. The VW came to a stop about 1' from the passenger side of the corolla. She whipped it in reverse, backed up to the stoping line and continues to text like nothing happened.

So effing lucky.

Brakes worked very well. Must have come to a stop from 50mph in about 80ft or less.

My whole reasoning behind trying to find a CPO 335/435 is so I don't mod it. But I know if I get one, I'm going to mod it. I said I wasn't going to mod the GLI. It's a lease and I still modded it. I said I was going to keep the M3 stock and now look at my sig. I'm telling you, I need a 320i. It's the only way I won't want to mod it.

I get it. The GLI Jetta is the 4-door GTI, sort of. But I don't think its in the same category as the 335. Not saying you do either.

But a lot of VW guys praise the GLI like its the VW Jesus. My cousin got one and was telling me how it was better than my (wife's) 335.

I let him drive the 335. He almost dumped it with power oversteer on an on ramp.

I guess my wife's car was just a tad more powerful than his GLI.

You'll still lower it. Maybe not performance mods because 320i, but you will lower it and push the wheels out.

Trade your 2004 M3 in for a 1997-1999 M3 and do the LS swap.

I would if I had the extra $ sitting around and not spending it on the 235.

Buy a TDi and then stage II tune

Sounds like you'll mod whatever car you get.

50 mpg Jetta/Passat with 350 torque....yes please

I have 2 TDi's - Jetta and Touareg, both heavily modded (Stage II tune and DPF delete). The Touareg now has a larger Turbo.

The Jetta is my DD - I average 47-52 mpg depending on traffic. The Touareg gets 35(ish) and has 650 torque () with a Cayenne suspension.

Had that happen to me once while stuck between Jersey barriers in a construction zone. Guy on a motorcycle behind me started moving up between my car and the Jersey barrier and I was thinking, WTF is he doing? Then I saw the oncoming car in my RVM and heard the screeching as she tried to stop. She did manage to get it stopped a few inches from my rear bumper, but she would have killed the guy on the bike if he hadn't been paying attention. She went right back to texting as well. If I could have opened my door, I would have gotten out of the car and given her hell for being such an idiot.

Texting while driving is stupid enough, but texting while driving in a tight construction zone lane is criminal and should be grounds for a public beating.

It's a fun car. No doubt. But if his is stock, he's fucking high. I'm not trying to get into a pissing match here but mine is not stock and has proven itself many times. I've pulled on stock new WRXs, E36 M3s, Focus Sts, Stage 2 Mk6 GTIs, various Mk4 GLI/GTIs, etc. When my M3 was stock, I let my friend drive it and we did a pull. Kept up to 100-110ish and then the M3 pulled away. I ran my M3 against an F30 335 and pulled slightly on the top end. So I know my GLI won't beat a 335 but it won't get crushed either.

The E46 M3 isn't going anywhere. I was actually bidding on an E36 M3 on eBay the other day. Didn't win it though. The goal would be to S54 swap it.

Haha you are a beast! Would love to see a video of the Touareg. I've just never been into the TDIs. Not much of a diesel guy, for some reason.

@silvergray545 - listen, you sound like a person that already has an appreciation for VW's.....listen to the voice of experience.....

A tuned TDi will provide all the thrills a GLI or even 335 would - with considerably less worry on long term maintenance.

And that Torque tho.....

Better mpg and bulletproof motor. You can beat the hell out of them and they'll keep on running.

The best part - because of the Diesel scandal, newer low mileage Jetta TDi's are dirt cheap right now.

Mods are way less expensive in them too....great community (TDi Forum) unlike VW Vortex and crap....
