It drives me crazy that cashiers can’t make change if the register doesn’t tell them. WTF? How do you get through life? My Starbucks is say $7.10. I pull out a $10. Cashier puts $10 into amount tendered and then I hand her a dime. A doe in headlights and panic ensues.

I've met some incredibly polite police in my time--not sure why anyone would strive for the opposite.

It's a two way street and while I'm not an LEO, there are more than enough folks who are generally "not polite" to be nice about it, but we digress into politics so once again, let's stick to any questions rather than expressing your obvious dislike for the police.

my dad carries like $0.68 on him so that he can limit the amount of change that he gets back when paying cash.. I only use cash if I'm getting a discount OR i want to help a business keep a purchase off the books..

Thank you, We in law enforcement appreciate all the support and prayers that we receive from the public. I have chosen this profession to hopefully make a difference in people's lives. We do not choose who we protect or serve. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. We enforce the law but we go by the spirit of the law or the letter of the law. We have 103 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty this year so far.

On the odd occasion you have to be direct with people, sometimes it's what they understand. I always started off polite, but sometimes have had to drop the niceties and go for direct. I always was professional, called folks sir or maim even if I had them on the ground putting them in cuffs.
