More false info (about sole owners etc). EVs become more environmentally friendly vs ICE the more miles are put on them. But everyone is right that full LCA (life cycle analysis) is the way to compare: the total emissions for all components of the vehicle for its its entire lifecycle. That includes mining, manufacturing, drilling and refining of oil and minerals, paint, to the crusher - every single component from cradle to grave.

One thing many will miss is that emissions from burning gas goes into the atmosphere, and stays there. EV batteries store the energy, and the minerals in the batteries can be recycled. The CO2 stays in the atmosphere for centuries. But but, ‘power production cause emissions,’ you retort? Maybe in some cases, but it can and is being made less fossil fuel centric. Once you buy an ICE, its future CO2 emissions are locked until the car is scrapped. Any power plant Co2 emissions for EV power will get greener over time. It’s going to happen quickly too. And ICE car sold today will be burning gas and emitting CO2 for 10-25 years.

There are much smarter people than anyone posting on Bimmerpost (well mostly) who have studied this and truly understand the LCA of EVs vs ICE. As of now, EVs are better after x number of miles driven, even after accounting for battery production. That will only get better as technology improves (and it will as people buy EVs)

All the nonsense about “tires!” serves to further distract and detract, giving a certain set of naysayers a talking point that will be promulgated by the “I do my own research” crowd. Fact is tire technology is also improving, and along with lighter batteries and lower EV weights, can be overcome.

What cannot be overcome is climate change caused by fossil fuel burning. We have to decarbonize or we will suffer the consequences.

How about the new iX2? It seems you would like a small BEV SUV, which I am also looking for.

I too left BMW in 2021 because they didn’t have the EV I wanted. The polestar 2 was nice, but if the i4 had been available I’d likely had picked up one instead of the 2.

Like I said, go spew your opinion on the EV thread. This one is for the VNK. And smart people aren't the ones with an agenda.

Country dependent and fuel price dependent. It’s hard to argue the market demand isn’t widespread in certain places like California and Sweden (for example).

Since you are of limited reading comprehension, no it isn't.

It's about this:
Update! Full Frontal Leak of BMW Vision Neue Klasse X!

In fact, that's even the title of this thread. I linked the thread that's about EV politics, but perhaps you still can't find it.

Neue Klasse is an EV platform. Even says that in the BMWUSA site. How you feel about EVs doesn't really matter, you are complaining about them on an EV platform post, it will get push back.

While I agree that personal vehicles are not the primary issue, this is also incorrect - the 3 largest sources of GHG are transportation (28%), energy production (25%), and industry (23%) - this is using the EPA's own data. Agriculture as a whole is ~10% with cattle being a fraction of that. Take into account the natural methane/CO2 cycle (i.e. non-exogenous carbon) and it's even less.

I have to have faith and confidence that BMW designers can do better! C'mon guys!

I'm thinking some here will appreciate the "W I D E S T A N C E" look over the NARROW look.

Based on the spy photos I'm thinking the grille treatment will look more like this than the concept. It's very E30.

Reread what I responded to, and what you were saying. Note the guidelines yourself and quit attacking others. Your low reputation ranking is for a reason.

No one that is objective argues that the future tech will make EV make more sense, from a practical standpoint. The fact that day is not today, yet governments insist on forcing the market, is what pisses off many people (myself included).

Niche? Tesla alone is almost larger than BMW global sales at this point. BYD is enormous now given China demand. I think you have to bury your head in the sand to say market demand for EVs isn’t there.

Yeah. It won’t be forever. Not once have I said EV’s are a fad or aren’t a market with future growth.
