Took the Batman on another vacation, this time to Maui. It's now been swimming in 2 oceans since I bought it August of last year.

This thread is pushing me into another watch purchase. How many times can I post my humble collection without being repetitive?!?

At any rate, here's yet another shameless Rolex post of my SD43.

I'd like to buy a few more watches myself, but I refuse to pay more than MSRP. I was lucky to get my new Sea-Dweller in 2021 at MSRP....

Garage List
2013 BMW 128i  [10.00]
Today I completed the battery replacement and new o-ring seal in my 39-year-old Seiko Speed Master motorcycle watch designed by Guigiaro (BMW M1) and worn by Ayrton Senna until Rolex made him a better offer. I've owned this watch since new but sidelined it in 1993 when I got my first Victorinox Officer watch. Seiko made a run of 3,000 of these as a reissue around 2016, but this is the original. Today I used every watch tool I could find or buy to replace the battery (tiniest screws I've ever seen), and the waterproof seal. To my amazement it fired up perfectly and I was even able to remember (or re-learn) how to set it. Even the light inside still works. I could not be happier to have this memory from my youth functioning again. To top it off, the original Swiss Army (Victorinox) officers watch is still working, too. The Guigiaro design was "tilted" to make it easier to read for a motorcyclist without removing hands from the bars. So I drove to work today in my 37-year-old BMW, wearing my 29-year-old Swiss Army watch and when I arrived home my Amazon order for batteries and tiny screwdriver had arrived (I'd received the set of 950 watch o-rings and silicone lube jar previously to re-seal the Swiss Army) and I was able to resurrect this old friend:

It is a classic!

One tip that I learned the hard way is never let batteries stay inside so long as they can leak and damage the watch. Even if I don't wear them that often I change the batteries in my watches every few years. It is a small investment to make on an oldie but goodie!!!

Nice, my dad had to assemble a '1968' (real) Accutron at watchmaking school Rotterdam as a graduation project back ten. But he gave it to wear for a short time to an 'acquintance' back in the '70s and it's been gone eversince.....

My 'daily beater'(sorry!) since about 2 months. SLA055.

Cheers
Robin

Hanhart (Official German WW2 Junkers JU-87 'Stuka' pilot and co pilot equipment) Fliegerchronograph aka aviator chronograph from 1943 according to serial movement number.

The only thing not original is the strap, which is new and brown and originally had to be black.
Presumably found about 15 miles from here from a shot down and crashed Junkers Stuka and(surviving?) pilot......

It was in such a terrible state but we restored it 8/10.(not touching dial/hands!) Running very well, just looking for one spare chrono part.....

Cheers
Robin
