performance upgrades???

So I just put some 19" M6 wheels on ordered Hamann roof and trunk spoilers now I want to upgrade the power/performance a little bit. I drive a 2006 530i with smg transmission. I'm not too sure about doing anything to the exhaust I don't really want it to be loud since I drive clients around sometimes for work. If anyone could give me suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Cold air intake, chips, throttle body???? What gains can I expect? And what are associated cost of the gains.

I'll let you know how it works out, but the Dinan Chip is a multi layer-expense. My 535i has 70k on it so it's out of warranty. I went in for a stage two chip and came out of the BMW/Dinan dealership with the engine light on. I turned around, spent a few more hours, they said it was fine. I drove a away and it was not. Engine light still on. I went back in a third time saying just give me back my $2,242 and fix the engine and I'll pretend this didn't happen. They say they did nothing wrong, that it was not the Dinan chip, come back on Tuesday. I'm going back in on Tuesday and expect them to say it will cost me several thousand for an oil cooler, several more thousand for a larger turbo, and labor to boot.

I'll press the issue, have to be a hard ass and basically end a very good relationship with both sales and service. Had they told me I would need a larger oil cooler, a bigger turbo and more efficient intercooler I would not have the problem paying for all this stuff. I would have been an informed buyer and made a decision based on the whole picture.

Bottom line: Any mods do within the warranty period. It's a mess.

no on the cold air intake, it has been proven to actually lose hp's

go with an air scoop (rpi) + drop in air filter with the stock box..

for an exhaust..go with an rpi exhaust as well..proven gains (you will find more info n e60.net)
