BMW owns the day at Homestead

BMW showed strong at the Grand Am races held at Homestead Raceway in Miami Florida today.

Brief Summary

The #01 Dinan preped Telmex BMW/Riley Daytona prototype took the checkered flag in its class.

and

The #94 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 took the GT Class Trophy

The #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 piloted by Bill Auberlen and Dalla Lana
brought home the checkered flag in the Continental Tire Sports car class as well.

There was some stiff competition in both classes from the Brumos Team and the band of Porsches in the GT and Prototype classes.

Ford showed strong with Mustangs in the Continental Tire Sports Car Class with a second place win.

Anybody here check out the races. It was a good day. Unfortunately I missed the majority of the Daytona Prototype/GT Class race.

The Rolex race was one of the best I've seen in a while. There was tons of passing and the usual amount of fender banging. Memo Rojas caught some grief for punting another car. He had to do a drive-through for the contact. It made the outcome a little more interesting because Pruett had to run through the field and took the lead very late in the race.

The Turner team was fantastic, and Bill Auberlen did another one of his driving clinics.

I was monitoring the Timing and Scoring of the Continental race, and it looks like there were lots of yellow flag laps. This is the best racing in the world as long as it stays green, but until last year many races had as many yellow flag laps as green. I hope that it's not a regular thing again this year. This race will be shown on Speed in a week or two. I'm going to have the popcorn ready!
