I've been interested in this for a while now. I think its time for me to try it out, does anyone know of a good website/shop to purchase one?

ive been longboarding for a few years now and i absolutely love it.
The city i live in is essentially one giant hill, so we can ride continuously for miles. Actually, Albuquerque has one of the longest ridable arroyos in the country. It almost feels like surfing. You cant really mess up and get an "advanced" longboard. At the end of the day, its a piece of wood with wheels. Just get something at least waist high. Personally, I ride Lush Boards http://www.lushlongboards.com/ (i have the Mako) |

I love longboarding and only ride Sector 9 boards. Right now, I have a cloud 9 series, a cosmic series, and a sidewinder. My first board was a 43 or 46 inch cosmic series and they're perfect to learn on; they're long, wide and stable. Don't get a sidewinder until you know what you're doing. It'll kill you. They are ridiculously loose and start wobbling after 50 feet unless you're doing some insane carving.
Riding longboards is a love/hate thing. It can be the most peaceful yet exhilarating experience at times, and the most terrifying and painful at others. I've nearly shattered my skull, almost got run over by cars too many times to count, torn a hell of a lot of skin off my body and my friend got thrown underneath a car. But honestly, the most exciting part of it is knowing you could ruin yourself at any given time. |
