Um, most police departments don't install any engine upgrades on their cars. Police chargers are no faster than standard everyday chargers. In fact, they're probably slightly slower because of the added weight on the police cars.

I don't want to defend the other "facts" of the article, but I can tell you that police-spec cars are very inexpensive. A police-spec Crown Vic purchased through fleet sales is in the $16K range. $22K for a Dodge Charge Police Spec sounds about right to me. They aren't SRT's -- they come with the mid-level "R/T" engine. They are so cheap because they dont come with ANY of the nice equipment that the the consumer versions come with. Read: Cloth Seats, rubber floors, no fog lights, steel wheels, no chrome, no center console, no trunk liner, etc, etc. The only upgrades tend to be pre-wired for police radios, lights. A dome light (no kidding!), and some upgrades under the hood that are designed to make the car more rugged -- extra cooling for just about everything (engine, trans, power steering!, etc)
Stripped down and mildly upgraded at the same time... Bottom line -- They're cheap to buy! Fleet sales offer only thin margins for the manufactueres. |

Law Enforcement get those cars on state bids, so they are very cheap compaired to what the public pays! Also, the dodges had trained pursut drivers chasing a drunk women in a car she has never driven before! The police know the roads, they know their cars better and they do this for a living! 90% of the time, "IF" the police are willing to chase a car down, they will win! 23 years in law Enforcemnet, you can give me a crown vic and a motorola radio, I'll catch you no matter what you are driving, MOST of the time! Remember, the one that makes the first mistake, usually wrecks! It's easier to chase than it is to run!!

If you disagree with an article, that's fine..Say so, but you need to grow up! "Pigs eating shit" sounds like you have spent to much time on the WRONG side of the law! It's people like you, that makes me glad which side of the law I am on!!!

Looking back, I realized I made that comment out of anger lol. Trust me, cops do me more good than harm around here. I just happen to look down on ignorance very deeply. I am a law abiding citizen, don't get me wrong.

Police CREATING a high-speed pursuit where none existed....
They knew who she was...all they had to do was go to her house and wait... Or, follow at a distance and wait for her to stop... It boggles the mind with LE insistence to engage in HSP when the crime has placed no one in immediate danger... I fail to believe that 140 mph was a reasonable and safe speed for LE to be traveling.... FULL DISCLOSER: My friend was killed as an innocent bystander by an Ohio State Trooper who chased a DUI suspect after he had him pulled over...speeds well over 100 mph in a suburban street with a 35 mph limit and crossed an intersection at a high speed that was not secured..."T-boning" my friends car and killing him...

There's a vid of a kid in an m3...
Another one of retarded police... It is really stupid how cops get away with the crap they do. I mean there's tons of cases of police brutality and what happens? The taxpayers pay while the cops get off with warnings or in the worst case scenario get fired. If it were up to me I would send them to forced labor camps. They should protect and uphold the law and therefore be an example to everyone. They should be held to a higher standard. |
