New Lens! 100-400 L
So I finally got a 100-400 4.5 L IS from Canon. Found a great deal on Calumet, refurbished for 1299! I'm stoked... I cant wait to get home and play this afternoon... Now all I need is a wide angle and a 5D MkII and I'll be set!

Mmmm, nice! Just in time for football? (not sure if it's fast enough but it certainly has the reach!)

This is where I'm a little envious of the Canon crowd. The only zoom that Nikon makes that reaches out to 400mm with their AF-S motor is the 200-400 F/4, which is over $6,000! The 80-400 isn't a bad performer, but it is a D lens, so it doesn't focus as fast as the AF-S lenses.
Oh well... Congrats on the new lens!

Congrats.
I love my 400mm f5.6L and use on almost all my bird shots. I'm thinking real hard about a 500 or 600. Save for your 5D MkII, you'll love it. Dave

17-40 f/4L is a great wide angle. Don't buy any of the EF-S lenses (specifically the 10-22, cause you're thinking wide angle), as you can't use them with the 5d that you're sure to pick up.

grats man, i love mine. its a bit of a light whore so dont be afraid to crank the iso up a bit. this was the 1st lens that the i tried to stick with the 1/focal length for shutter speed rule. slight movements will make a big blur when you are out on the long end of the lens. a sharp copy can be a great performer. enjoy it.

Great lens. I owned one for awhile. The only reason I sold it was because I ended up using it like once every 6 months. Definitely a specialty lens.

I was fortunate enough to have borrowed one for my ED trip, and I loved it! I won't buy anything other than an L series (Lens snob) because I love the performance of them, and I have already started a 5D fund
