watched him today - he was incredibly strong. Astana as a whole looks great!
Very impressive. Makes me wonder what happened in the Giro. . . if it was just a calming exercise for him and he was holding back.

Lance has lost a lot of weight and gained fitness from the Giro.

Still not as good a climber as Contador but is tactically the best rider in the peloton.

Scratch Menchov and Evans due to a sh*tty TTT performance

Mountains begin Friday, it'll be a new Tour again then. We'll see what the Schleck brothers do.

Better not to have yellow now, let Saxo (not) work.

Wanted to keep the thread going. I'm a huge cycling fan.

Contador has proven to be the best cyclist in the world winning the other 2 Grand Tours (Italy and Spain). But, he doesn't know what it means to be on a team. What he did to Kloden the other day was pathetic. You never leave your teammate hanging out by himself with no help. He's a very selfish rider. That move probably costs him a podium. If you go to Versus.com, look at the interviews from Johan and Lance.

That being said, Lance is starting his own team next year with the sponsorship of Radio Shack. Johan Bruyneel will be the manager. Then, they will kick Team Astana's ass which Contador is already signed on to.

I miss the old days of the Discovery Channel or the USPS teams.

I don't know much about cycling at all, but to me for Lance to have come back and done so well in the Tour is pretty amazing. Win or lose I think he's already exceeded expectations. Contador is supposed to be a machine.

Contador just painted a big A* target on himself with that move 3 days ago. If you don't think Lance will come back at him with a vengeance you don't know LA very well. I admit contador looked good in the TT yesterday.

Hes gonna be all over him on sat too.. but probably wont make more than a min at most.

Lance is a man of his word and a true teammate. He won't attack AC, but will try to protect him. I'm worried about the Schleck brothers and their ability to launch attacks. They will be attacking Lance to keep a podium spot. Andy is going to do everything he can to get his brother in 3rd. I'd like to see AC be a teammate and try to protect Lance. We'll see how much gas LA has in the tank to stay on the podium.

Your right, THIS YEAR. I was talking about the effort he will put forth NEXT year when they are on separate teams.

I bet he tries to put something on him for the last climb of it is decided for GC.

Next year is going to be amazing. I can't wait already! You know Lance will be in better shape and the Schleck brothers will get better as well as Contador. LA has made no bones about his dislike for AC. It was a great tour again this year.

I don't think people realize what Lance accomplished. He has to be considered one of the greatest athletes of our time. To take that much time off and finish 3rd is incredible. There is no athlete in any of the 4 major sports that could ever do a TdF.
