The PSAT scores should be like 63 math, 54 reading, 67 writing. Add 'em all up and you get 184, add a 0 and you have an 1840/2400 on your SAT. One important thing to remember though is that the actual SAT has an essay that is infinitely more difficult to score well on than the PSAT writing portion.

^^ is correct. I stuck with ACT but on the PSAT/SAT stuff I think it was 1/4 point off for each wrong..out of the total 'raw' scale which computes to a numerical score (out of 80 on each section)

I forgot about that. For every question answered incorrectly it's 1/4 of a point off. For every answer correct you get 1 point. So, 80 questions per section, let's say you answer 60 correct, 12 incorrect, and skip 8. You'd score a 57 for the section. Although points are added the same way in the PSAT and SAT, I believe there is a multiplication factor used for the SAT.

Good is a relative term =P But personally, I'd say 180+ is good. Excellent would be 210+. A 2100 on your SAT will get you into pretty much any college in the country. (assuming a strong transcript, extracurriculars, etc.)

2100 and above means your in the top 5 percentile. 1800+ is going to get you into any college unless your gpa is full of fail. 1600-1700 is good enough for most colleges. Anything below is fail (or at least in my eyes).

but thats for SATs, not PSATs.

I said personally for a reason. I scored a 1900. (680CR, 670M, 550W) I'm a sophomore. I considered my score good, not great. It really is to each his own and where you want to go. If I wanted to go to Yale, I'd probably need 20 more points in reading and 30 more points in math.

Yeah, just add a "0" to the end of each score and add them up.

Kinda unrelated, but I got a 2070 on my third SAT attempt (670 Reading, 690 Math, 710 Writing). My GPA was shit since I had untreated ADD until second semester of junior year, but some schools that I applied to let me write in and explain my condition and treatment. It kinda worked since I got almost all A's after being diagnosed.

Damn, I'm just bad at writing... oh well, it was only my 2nd attempt, I take it 2 more times this year lol

It used to have only 2 sections and was scored out a possible 1600. Now you have to prepare for a 3rd section.

Most schools don't even look at the Writing section, so it's just as if it still is out of 1600 for the most part. At least that's what I found to be true was when I applied for colleges.

i guess from where your from 1800 is good for any college but not for the US. you'll have a lot of trouble getting into the top 30 schools or so. and even a 2100 does not mean you will get into any of the top schools. my friend got a 2200 and got rejected from a lot of the top schools. had a 4.0 so no excuse there.

i say get real good at a sport and just have some brains and your good to go anywhere in the country

Most schools don't look at the writing section but if the school requires SAT II scores then they will use your writing score as an SAT II
