Love the 135i but look at the new M3
Gents, ladies, I honestly like the 135i look, I think it looks amazing and it will be a great car..as long as the price stays reasonable, but.....I'm totally in love with the new M3. I know a lot of people would say that the car looks to bloated, too big, too...etc.. in my opinion, BMW went to the right direction.
Take a look at these pics and feel free to criticize me if you disagree  http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76730 |

Love the M3. No doubt. The Ultimate Ultimate Driving Machine. That would be my first choice. But at close to $60K, it's unattainable for me - a completely different league. So basically I would just rather not talk about it. Too depressing.

Irv,
No doubt the E92 M3 will be a wonderful car (the engine sound is simply awesome!), but while I'm no pauper the price of M-car entry has been an upward spiral that has left me, and others surely, on the sidelines. E46 M3 ~ $45K E46 M3 ~ $55K E92 M3 ~ $65K Not withstanding the price escalation, there has been a weight escalation that makes the M3 less desirable to those who like their performance cars to weigh as little as possible. And I'm sure it will get nowhere near the fuel mileage of the 135i. But if your dealership would like to donate one to my charity (me), I'll happily accept.

The M3 is the M3. My dad and I would autocross ours and take it to BMW club events. I've never had a better experience driving than during those times... Unfortunately I'm only 20 and the 135i is stretching it as it is.
I think like most people here, if I could get an M3 I would. As for the looks, I don't really like the hood bump or the roof. But other than that it's a monster. |

I also like the new M3, but the best rocket for the buck is the 135i.
Performance wise, the M3 won't stand out like it used to. The rest of the BMW family have grown up |

The New M3 doesn't really do it for me. Even if I could afford it, 15mpg highway would keep me away from it. I like the new M3 but it will be too heavy (just like the M5). I hear guys complaining about the 135's weight. The M3 will make the 135 look like a light-weight in comparison.
I'd just get a used 2007 porsche 911 instead. The porchse 911 is lighter, faster, more reliable, and gets better fuel mileage (and it has a sunroof). I think BMW missed the mark slightly with the new M3. |

I have to agree - the new M3 doesn't move me like the older ones. Of course, I never really cared for the E46 until the new one broke cover!
Something about the E46 seems just right. Lots of straight six power, Different enough looking from a regular E46 that you KNOW it is an M (E36 fell down here a bit) and usable as an everyday machine (can you still do that with an E30?) I also love that the new 135i looks more like an E46 to me than an E90. VERY tempted to start looking at E46 M's - but I am pretty sure that the turbos would make me giggle day in, day out.... |
