What Does "E" Mean On Cellphone?

i checked my friend's phones, family, the manual and even gave t-mobile a call and after waiting 15min+ i just hung up. but in all seriousness where the signal bars are after it says t-mobile i have the letter E displayed. none of my family phones have this but just mine on my iphone... the manual doesn't say anything about it either.

what is this E mean?

on mine it means im connected to Edge network for data... idk about t-mobile

+1. I do have T-mobile and it does mean EDGE packet data

that is free for your network right, being connected to edge network? i don't want to be hit with a huge charge.

being connected is free of charge, getting data is not (unless ur plan says so)

location services ive never heard before

It's the GPS, cellular triangulation, etc for google maps to find your location.

what kind of phone is it??? is it a PDA phone or smart phone or something?

i remember one time i asked about my "e" logo on my phone and it was for emergency location or something.

it is an iphone on t-mobile

, the guy was right it does mean edge and i turned the location services off hoping it will save me more battery?
