Anyone with Wrangler 4Xe experience?
I'm thinking of picking up a third vehicle for the fam. It really would be there just for crappy weather (PNW). There are a lot of attractive leases on Wrangler 4Xes. Does anyone on the forum have experience with 4Xe powered Jeeps? I test drove one and really liked it all things considered. Still can't believe its almost $60K, but the lease rates are great so who cares?

Not sure what exactly you need, but for that price you can get a nice Suburban RST with the straight six turbo diesel. Over 30 mpg highway and large enough to tow or haul whatever you need to.

OP - the Wrangler is an awesome daily, I had a V6 JL and now have a 392 and might never sell it. I test drove a 4xe and liked it a lot, but thought I'd regret not going for the 392. It's definitely faster than the regular V6 and for the money I don't think you can do much better. Wranglers also hold their resale value incredibly well. |

Hoping people have any sort of experience with the 4Xe vehicles to say 'go for it' or 'avoid it at all costs.'

We have one soft top rubi with all the packages.
I know the leases have been going up all year. We love the one we got. |

My family member is a big Jeep guy, always had one, and has had a 4xe for about 1 year now. He loves it. I checked it out and while my first inclination would be to go with a 392, this would be an awesome (much cheaper) second place.

That lease is a great deal though....although I prefer purchase because Jeep's are like big kid Legos and the mods are endless. There is nothing like a Jeep for just having a sense just being able to go anywhere you want practically this is from recent road trip up to Tahoe If you plan on just keeping it stock though, the lease is great choice at that price |

Well, a year and a half later...picked one up. Jeep still has a really low monthly lease. Jeep Seattle advertises $240 a month with $5K out of pocket. You basically add $100 a month to that price for taxes and license and blah blah blah, which is what i'm paying but I put down even less than $5K. Worth it. Went to work yesterday from my house, used zero gas.

Not for $360 a month after taxes with $3K down you can't. You also don't get stellar gas mileage out of the Suburban, I'm on track to get 1,000 miles out of my first tank of gas. I dont think you get the ground clearance, nor the off road ability at the small size either. It's a hoot to drive.

"In other words, the power flow through the Wrangler 4xe's running gear is, at times, harder to follow than the plot of Inception." "Driving the Wrangler 4xe in suburban traffic is a constant reminder that calibrating two powertrains to behave as one is more than twice as complicated as tuning a single propulsion source." It's crazy how bad the resale is on the 4XE. Probably best to lease or buy a slightly used one that's 1-2 years old for nearly half price now. If you drive almost all city and with little distance, it can get decent mpg. Once that battery is depleted though, it gets 20mpg max on a good day. Still better than my wife's 2020 4runner though. That thing gets 18mpg going up hill, downhill, thrown out of a plane, etc.

Resale wise, yes, these things plummet. I think most EVs and hybrids seem to. So leasing one makes the most sense if you're looking at keeping costs down and trying out something like a hybrid. I really enjoy driving it around town. One of my G80 friends has one and the most miles he's gotten out of one tank is 1200 lol. I think my buy out was something like $36K after 3 years, no way i'm doing that at that price. I would buy mine for 20 something thousand and throw a small lift and 35s and call it a day. Probably ruin that stellar gas mileage so maybe not.

rented one when i went to OBX earlier this summer. Honestly - and i've never driven a wrangler before - it was a hell of a lot of fun. And i quickly learned about the "jeep wave" lol. My daughter's (6 and 3) have been obsessed with jeeps, so we lucked out to see a "new" 4xe Rubi at the National rental at the airport. Those two were living the dream with their windows open waving at literally every jeep that drove by as others waved back.
The only thing thing that was sketchy was we had to race to the airport on our departure date because the flight times were changing. That thing gets pretty squirrely on the highway at higher speeds. It wasn't as confidence inspiring as our existing CX90 for that type of driving. damn expensive though.
