Hey guys just bought a 528i with 87k miles in pretty good condition owned by a old gentleman reason of selling was bmw dealer ship said it needs a mechatronics it shows a transmission malfunction light car is stuck in park what's the best way to get this fixed
Junk yard transmission? Used mechatronics? Change the seals and solenoids? I got the car for cheap don't want to blow the bank |

That’s weird I just fixed my 08 528i with the “TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION” last night
It’s a long story, but the outcome is so rewarding when you do it yourself! I took the valve body out and they rebuilt ALL of it Valve Body Pros in San Jose CA Installed all new mechatronics sleeves and filled it with transmission fluid, I even scanned it with the Foxwell and codes 51A6 & 2A94 would not clear! Check engine light still there! The transmission wouldn’t shift past 3,000 rpm’s I was kinda bummed out But, I knew I had to reset adaptations in ISTA & relearn the gearbox So, this morning I started and drove and I noticed the check engine light was gone! And it was shifting through ALL the gears! You wouldn’t believe what I went through with this transmission malfunction message Alls I can say……I had to go in manual mode to shift to avoid check engine light appearing It finally didn’t allow me to use that mode I had to drive in limp mode if I really needed to drive it I really feel proud |
