535 N54 noise from valve cover
I have an lci 535xi that has recently been making a rattling noise that follows rpms seeming to originate from the front of the engine. I am not too knowledgable about the e60 platform, so rather than just digging in to find the problem I thought I should ask knowledgable people. I am attempting to attach a video, but if it doesnt show up, it sounds like marbles are in the timing chain, and comes and goes with rpm and turning it off and on.

Guessing your car is a manual and that the noise goes away when you depress the clutch?
If so, it's more than likely the throughout/clutch release bearing. I had the same issue on my N54 335i. To repair, it's a gearbox out job as this bearing is inside the bell housing.

could it be a loose swirl flaps? on yt there is a channel Bmw Doctor that says how to delete those because it can get lose and go into the intake manifold, and cause damage to the engine, i would check for the swirl flaps
