I have been looking at E90/E92 M3 as well I used to own a E90 335i the prices are certainly up on those and I need to figure rod Bearing into the cost unless they can provide documentation for it being done.
I have looked at E46 M3's as well which I have never felt a connection with not sure why but the S54 is certainly a more exciting engine than a S52 I have looked into Z3M Roadsters as well but not sure if id like it as much even though it has the M3 drivetrain I think getting a E36 M3 is just something I need to get off my bucketlist even if the car might not justify the price.

M539 Restorations has a 2-part series on one, "Project Valencia". The first one is short and about the car and how he gets it. The 2nd is him reworking every issue he knows of. I'd probably call that a "must watch" video. It could tell you a lot about what to look for and help you negotiate a price if you find one you're interested in. And be a great guide for repairs as well if you DIY.

The E36 design stands out to let everyone know its a BMW, no question. Your M3 in red looks fabulous there.
If I had spare cash, even if not to drive it, personally I would buy one as a collector. |
