For high quality LVP, it could cost that much if you are replacing all the flooring in the house.
https://www.architecturaldigest.com/...-flooring-cost Obviously there are lower cost options, but flooring that isn’t carpet can get pricey very quickly. Here’s wood for comparison: https://www.architecturaldigest.com/...-flooring-cost

The last time we redid a home's flooring from scratch, the issues we had were: what could we afford, what we were willing to live with and look at for at least the next decade, and how much difference did we think our choice might make to the resale value of the home.
Given how long we expected to live there (as many as two decades in a rural home, retired residents home all of the time, lots of guests), what made the most sense for us was higher quality hardwood flooring. For our upstairs with bedrooms we chose quarter-sawn white oak, and for the downstairs bedroom we picked cherry. The living room got 9"-wide yellow birch. The principal main floor traffic areas were done with contemporary Italian tile. With water-based poly on the hardwood, all of the wood flooring looked as good the day we sold the home as it had the day the flooring contractor turned it over to us. Because they were local to us, we went with Carlisle, but there must be other producers with equal quality in every region of the country: https://wideplankflooring.com/.

All hardscaped in my house. Baths and kitchen are tile (I did the first round myself) We have actual bamboo in the front living room/2 bedrooms, then oak down the bowling alley hallway into the 3 back bedroom. It was two different portions of house and different installations.
Transitions between tile/wood is easy, just get the correctly indexed wood.

Nope. Quite common. Now I wouldn’t have 5 different surfaces but tile in kitchen and baths with wood elsewhere or wood in bedrooms and tile everywhere else seems fine to me.
