Realflight is an essential cheap way to learn the sticks before take off. Get good with learning orientation when the plane is going away vs coming toward you.
This will save a lot of crashes.
I have a RF simulator I will sell - PM me

The 160 HP LongEZ pusher will cruise at 180 knots (~208 mph) burning 6.8 gallons per hour at 17,500'. I can go faster, about 200 knots, but it will burn 12+ gph. So, roughly 30 miles per gallon at cruise speed of 208 mph. the EZ holds 52 gallons, so I can fly a looong way w/o refueling.

The 180 HP RV-6 is slower and not as fuel efficient.

Cars is one of my main thing but mostly because I like using my hands. I like to build things mostly with wood and just recently started with metals, fiberglass and carbon fiber.

I also shoot competitively for fun. Used to be into photography till all my equipment got stolen.

Then I like to fish.

Some of the gifts I build as of late.

Which one?

The one with the aluminum strips was actually pretty simple. I have access to a metal shop, so once I had the measurements on the sheet of aluminum, I just had them cut. I used VHT tail light tint to give it a clear ed finish so the aluminum will show through. The blue I did the same but I used Duplicolor anodized finish color without the base coat. The piece at the end I use a sticker from the command logo and painted the rest. I didn't get a chance to picture the finished process but I covered it on epoxy resin. I'm currently making another one that instead of being on wood, it will be encapsulated on epoxy resin.

The wood one, I just used a table saw. I put wood stain on the the slats to give it a different color. The starts were a pain. I cut does by hand using a bandsaw. Later found out I could have bought them in Amazon for a lot cheaper than what it cost me to make them. The plaque at the bottom, I finished the wood then took it to a plaque trophy shop with what I wanted and they printed the logo and names on it. Then I covered the whole thing with poly.

It's way nicer you cut the stars by hand. I was curious how the aluminum and logos were done.
They are so well proportioned it's like pieces of art.

Cut by bandsaw and then just glue on or something? I was thinking of how I would do it, and best I could come up with was router + chisel for finishing touches.... but also so much work.

The stars on the aluminum one are vinyl stickers. I was supposed to use them as a mask so the stars would be the bare aluminum but it was too cold when I did it and it was pulling the paint away. Then I ran out of time.

I used that to get a good reference on size.

Thanks for the reply! I'm working on my private license so I'm looking into future options. Thanks again!

Outside of cars, cooking, writing, horseback riding, gardening, etc.
I used to put on fireworks shows for the 4th of July. I miss that stuff.
Used to play poker as well, but have not played live in years.

Feel free to see my attached pics.
