08 535i Electrical Issues
Dear BMW Community,
I am seeking assistance regarding some challenges I have encountered with my 2008 BMW 535i following the MSD80 to 81 that I got. Initially, the upgrade successfully resolved a limp mode issue I was experiencing. However, in the past week, I have encountered new difficulties. The instrument cluster, iDrive system, and several other components are exhibiting erratic behaviour. At times, everything functions normally for 5-10 minutes, only to encounter issues suddenly. Alternatively, some instances present immediate challenges. The problems include the instrument cluster malfunctioning, RPM gauges fluctuating, lights flickering, transmission malfunctions, and various electrical system errors. The iDrive system either becomes unresponsive, lags, or completely shuts down. Additional issues involve windshield wipers turning on and not turning off, the trunk not responding, turn signals malfunctioning, and occasional failure of the car to enter sleep mode. On rare occasions, even after turning off the car and removing the key, the ignition remains on, forcing me to disconnect the battery. There have also been instances where the car won't lock with the key. Conducting a diagnostic check using INPA, I obtained the following error codes: 0x2FA3 - DME: No coding 0x2F4A - DME: Interface EWS-DME 0x2E8E - BSD, message; intelligent battery sensor (IBS): Missing 0xCDA8 - Message (status, Instrument Cluster, 0x1B4) incorrect, receiver DME, transmitter Instrument Cluster 0xCDA0 - Message error (terminal status, 0x130), DME receiver, CAS transmitter 0x2DC3 - DME: Monitoring, terminal 15 0x29D1 - DME: Combustion misfires, cylinder 5 0x2F4C - DME: Message EWS-DME incorrect 0x2F84 - Engine switch-off time, Instrument Cluster timer - DME timer, comparison 0xCD94 - Message error (ambient temperature/relative time, 0x310), DME receiver, Instrument Cluster transmitter 0x2EE6 - DME: Coolant-temperature sensor, measurement range 0x2F81 - DME: Engine switch-off time, instrument cluster timer - DME timer, comparison 0xCD9F - DME: Power management, closed-circuit current violation 0x2DE5 - DME: Fuel level sensor, right: Signal 0x2DE4 - DME: Fuel level sensor, left: Signal 0xCDB1 - Message (status, central locking system, 0x2FC) incorrect, receiver DME, transmitter CAS 0xCDAA - Message error (status, crash disengagement, EKP, 0x135), DME receiver, JBE / ACSM /MRS5 / EKP transmitter 0xCDAE - Message error (time display / date, 0x2F8), DME receiver, Instrument Cluster transmitter While I suspect that the Instrument Cluster Control Module may be fried, the CAS/DME-related errors have prompted me to seek your insights first. Your assistance is highly appreciated. |
