Nashville has a pretty wide range, from the Grand Ol Opry to some good eats.
I saw the Time Jumpers (https://www.thetimejumpers.com/) on a recent visit and really enjoyed their show. Lots of “classic country” with them. There are some country music star homes you can tour (not my thing, but some love it), lots of other bands and some historic country music places. Plenty of good food options from small street side to bigger formal restaurants (lots of corporate events in Nashville so appropriate venues for those crowds). Not sure what sporting events will be in town next week, but might be fun as well. I live about 3 hrs away; hopefully some of our Nashville residents will chime in with local favs. |

I live about 20 miles south of Nashville but have lived all around since 1982. I even lived downtown for a time. I'm quite an introvert and wish I could list off tons of things to do, but I can't. You were very helpful in my Florida real estate post, and I'm at a loss to return the favor. There are a lot of new venues that have popped up, but I haven't kept up because no one wants to date a 50 year old with a face rivaling Steve Buscemi.
That being said, I can say that if you like rooftop bars, I highly recommend L27 at the top of the Westin. The Westin itself is also highly popular. Fair warning that this place is pretentious as hell. If you want a more quiet, cozy experience, try the Rare Bird on top of the Dream Hotel. It has two fireplaces at either end of a wraparound patio, very comfortably seating for snuggling, and a great view of the bridge. Food at the Rare Bird isn't all that remarkable, but it is a very pleasant experience. If you want a killer steak (and can get a reservation), hit up Bourbon Steak at the top of the JW Marriot. There is also another rooftop bar above Bourbon, but I have never been. There have been quite a few other rooftop restaurants/bars pop up over the past five years, but I'm not one to go to these places by myself. If you want to max out pretense, then hit up the Gulch area and head towards LA Jackson and get on the list for another rooftop experience. If you're with someone who likes fruitier drinks, have them try the Frozé. The Gulch area is a highly dense area for night-life. Pins Mechanical is also there, which is a pretty cool place that has a lot of pinball machines, arcade games, and some weird bowling. Very popular. Virago is there too, for some good sushi, but there are some really good restaurants this whole area. I have heard good things about this show, though. Never been myself. https://www.hocnashville.com/ Last edited by nerdogray; 10-31-2023 at 01:08 PM.. |

It's been a while, but off the top of my head... whiskey row, the parthenon, bicentennial park was cool also. There was a winery at some old estate that was pretty cool... can't remember the name... they had horses there also. We were only there for a couple of days.

The Gaylord may have their Xmas stuff up by then. Bunch of restaurants there, too. And they used to have an Ice Palace type thing, but that was ages ago. Not sure what they have going there now.

Ooohhh... yes, I am embarrassed to say I didn't think of Christmas at Opryland. Definitely worth a trip and walk-around, and it looks like it starts on November 10!
If you go, try to get a dinner reservation at Old Hickory. It is the *only* restaurant there worth a damn. I've had some seriously bad meals at the others, but Old Hickory is top shelf. |

Great suggestions! We do have reservations at Virago - good to hear that place is solid. Will definitely go to the Gaylord - I’ve done work for the one here - it’s a good environment for the Holidays, we may venture to a rooftop bar - will leave that up to the missus - Old Hickory sounds good.

Nashville is busier than I remember - like way busier.
We had a great time! Ate at 55 South my all time favorite cheeseburger. Virago was good. Robert Moore’s for live music was fantastic. Met some big music artists at our friends* fundraiser - that was a special night. Glad to be home! Here is a photo at 4:30am at the airport there. And a few other random photos.
