This would be an easy-to-maintain item. Disconnect the dryer, pull it out of the way, vacuum dryer and vent thing, reassemble. 15 minutes once a year (or less frequently if you don’t use the condo/dryer regularly). |

I'll chime in. Most everything has been covered here, bfwiw:
That flex vent behind the dryer is designed to allow you to pull the drier away from the wall. Think about it - if you had a fixed-length connection how would you get behind the dryer to disconnect? It may be possible but certainly not easy. As others have suggested, a professional will have specialized cleaning hardware that will "snake" along your dryer venting behind the walls as far as possible which will also remove any lint obstructing ventilation. Last thing - don't just vacuum out that flex venting, - get a long wire brush as sold on Amazon and also clean out where the lint trap fits in the front of the dryer, like this: Lint Trap Cleaner All of this maintenance should result in less time to dry and more efficient energy usage. |

I bought one of these cleaning brushes to attach to my drill and it works like a dream.
Even after I had a "professional" come out and clean it, I used this product and got a bunch more lint out. Our drying time was well over an hour before. Now its 30 minutes. Remarkable difference. If you are handy at all, this is easy. You just add sections as you push the brush from the dryer to the outside, with the drill spinning in the clockwise direction. Tip: Don't reverse the direction on the drill or the sections will unscrew. When done, I used my kick ass battery operated yard blower to blow out the rest. Would also recommend not using screws to hold this together. Aluminium tape or gear clamps. Screws will just catch lint.

Luckily, I have easy access outside to the vent, because our washer/dryer seem to run 24x7.
