EVGA announces its exit from the GPU market today.

Pretty earth shattering news...at least to me. EVGA announces they are terminating their partnership with Nvidia and exiting the GPU market. They're selling off their remaining inventory of the RTX 30x series and only keeping enough to fulfill warranty/RMA issues. I've had EVGA GPUs going way back and it's shocking to me to see the news.

They were the best for video cards, not only in their proprietary board engineering, but in warranty/support.
I'm not sure if I understand the decision, but what's done is done.

[Looks forlornly at his EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra humming along inside the case...]

What doesn't make sense as Stephen points out in his video I linked is why Han refuses to entertain working with AMD or Intel in building out a line of graphics cards for them. Their expertise with GPU cooling and board engineering is well recognized. And as Stephen points out the longer EVGA stays out of the GPU business, the lower their relevance. Their stock value right now is the highest it's going to be towards working with another OEM. It only starts to go downhill fast pretty soon.

Rather glad I just got an ASUS. This is very odd for Evga to do since all these companies (asus, msi, gigabyte, etc) have to deal with nvidia the same way. Can't see how power supplies and motherboards will keep em in business.

Stephen broke down in the video how EVGA actually makes more money with power supplies than GPUs. The margins are much better there but they do more volume with GPUs. Stephen mentioned EVGA actually lost money on some of their GPUs due to how the pricing structure is set with Nvidia.

The plan was already set in motion for them exiting from the GPU market with the layoffs they had just recently. And the expected exodus of staff that are seeing the writing on the wall.

Like others have said. My last few cards were all EVGA. I loved them. Never had a single issue with anything EVGA and that includes their other products as well.

Fair enough, makes sense. My last evga products were just fine.
Main reason I didn't go for an evga card is having to mail to the US for warranty. It's too bad nvidia is this way.
