I recently picked up a Rexing V1P plus Front and rear dash camera combo.
Got it on eBay for $69. The camera is pretty slick and does the job well! Saw some better cams out there but decided to go with this one. Will put it in my dodge once I decide on a smaller cam for the i3. I've caught so many stupid driving incidents (including a few of my own) that I have enough to upload to YouTube to one of those dashcam video channels. I even caught an accident where a car went airborne and snapped a power pole. Handed the vid to the cops on-site via email. Driver had a broken exposed collarbone., and was vaping while getting wrapped up by EMT. Video is crazy AF! I really want a small inconspicuous dashcam set where I don't have to worry about its presence setting off a thief to smash glazing, but I want to make sure I stop by here to ask the professionals their opinion. Does it even matter the size of the camera? I just don't feel like stowing the camera every time I park somewhere. Yes, I could just get a new BMW with the cameras already in the car like some of you have LOL! Hope you all are safe out there and enjoying the holidays.[IMG][/IMG] |

If someone wants to snatch my hard-wired $379 DOD (brand) dash cameras, more power to them! I have a set of these in both The Mighty Dodge and my Bavarian Golf Cart (i3):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C3HL4DT My shopping parameters for dashcams are insanely high resolution and showing the speed, date/time, and GPS coordinates in the recorded video images.....

Does anyone worry that having a dashcam could mean you collect evidence that can be used against you, in the event of an accident or whatever?

In event of death, delete my dash cam footage... and browser history...
It's hard to find good cheap dash cams with all the different brands and whatnot out there. Windshield mounted ones are almost impossible to hide too. If you're more worried about vandalizing (broken glass) than about theft than maybe don't use one at all. They definitely help back up those crazy "you'll never believe this happened" stories though. |

I have a Rexing V3 and like it. I screwed up a setting and have been too lazy to read the directions. This is hard wired into my system and barely can be seen. There are multiple threads on here also with tons of good info.

I have this one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f_=as_li_ss_tl Not exactly cheap but moving from a cheaper 1080p cam to this was like night and day, you can actually read license plates. I also like the fact that it's a 2-channel, that way you cover your behind as well.

What dashcam are you talking about? There's no law requiring a dashcam in every car. Why would I waste my money on one?????

After watching many of the dash cam car accident videos on You Tube, I I have concluded that these cameras seem to embolden cammers to drive more aggressively and to assert their perceived right of way.
Don't do that. Lol |

I will say the part that displays my speed is turned off though.

I have put dash cams in all my cars now. I like the Thinkware brand (FA200). They have an app to view the video on your phone.

I've seen some people do the same thing on videos. They intentionally go and look for things to catch on camera. Speed up, won't let people merge, etc. I am in the process of becoming one of the principals/owners at my company, I'm all over LinkedIn, and can't afford to go around being aggressive making negative press. Anyone on the road could be a current or future client. Chose my road rages carefully lol!

Either way 1080p cams are good entry level cameras but you'll soon discover that they have a hard time capturing things, esp at night. I didn't realize how much of a difference there was until I upgraded to a 4k camera. Not being able to see crucial things like license plates can be a big thing if you're looking to catch that hit and run person.
