Are you able to scan the codes? This is really the first place you need to start. Other than that, you can check the fluid level which will require you to get under the car.
Are you able to shift out of park? Does the car grind in all gears ? How many miles on the car and any history of maintenance done to the transmission? |

Don't know about the 328i transmission compatibility. The grinding in all gears could be a torque converter issue, low fluid or severe transmission issues. I would recommend you start with the low cost options, check for any transmission fluid leak. If you see a significant leak, I would pull the pan, replace the mechatronic seals and sleeve then ohms test the solenoids. If you are not mechanically inclined, I would at least drain the transmission fluid and refill to the proper level.
