I agree with this. People like me should stay home. This is why I use the self pay kiosks, pay at the pump, home delivery, etc. The less I interact with other humans the better off I AND they are. 100%.

But even though I am a "rude asshole" in the last say 5-6 months - I have stopped my car on the interstate to help someone change a tire, tried to jump start an elderly ladies car when it would not start and then wound up taking her to the parts store for a new battery when I saw it's condition and age and installed her new one for her back in the store parking lot. Noticed one of my employees lost a hub cap off their car found one on ebay ordered it paid for it and installed it for her - she still has no idea who did it, matched donations for an ex employee when their house burned down, helped an elderly guy get his 50 pound bag of dog food out to his truck from the store, ordered gravel for my neighbors on our private road and used my tractor to spread it all out for them, and just last weekend power washed my sisters house who's husband is fighting lung cancer. So while I am a rude asshole - I do try and practice what I preach.

My favorite is when I am going into or out of a place. I open the door and I'm about to walk through when someone going the other direction just walks through the entrance as I am opening the door. COVID made people more polite, NO, less rushed, NO, more patient, NO, actually I think didn't want to get too close for fear of dying so they stopped cutting people off by walking in front of them and would actually stop to let you go but the old behavior is returning. It's also a challenge to back out of a parking space anymore. I look both ways, look again, start to back up then I see a car fly by in the rear view or camera! I'm like WTF you seriously cannot stop for 2 seconds and let me back up! Really. |

Every month we used to do a corporate lunch, cater in for all 50 staff onsite. Dealing with the restaurants was an absolute ordeal of the highest order. You've no idea how absolutely hopeless almost all of them were to deal with. Nothing but problems or a can't do attitude and I am not talking any money issues here.

Funny that you mention this today. We have a local family owned restaurant here, think small town fancy, and their food is amazing. The problem is, depending on how busy they are and what kind of mood the owner is in, decides our lunch fate. She will literally screen calls. If she doesn't want to deal with my special order today, she won't answer. Doesn't matter how many times I call. Call from a different number, she instantly answers. We've done this to the point, to where she hates us. I typically always order the same thing, and it's a special order. I'll call, they won't answer. I'll have someone else call, then when they give my order; she gets insanely upset and tries to be professional about it. At first it pissed me off. I kept trying to figure out what I did to make her not want my/our business. I come to find out later, she does it to a lot of people. She is seriously the Soup Nazi of this little town. Now I find it hilarious and I get too much joy out of it bothering her. Such an odd mindset for a business owner. If a person makes a great product and people are buying, why would you not answer the phone??? I mean, that is the point right? |

I guess the nice thing about living in the midwest is this is the kind of shit you need to get mad about
I am just happy when I go to a place and someone is working! I see so many places with reduced staff and hours because they can't find workers that I give them all more than the benefit of the doubt lately.

@Joekerr - apologies for the delayed reply….and shoei is getting AARP materials now, so…..
Time is your most precious commodity. I have watched my parents become terribly impatient in their golden years, and find I have to be the buffer for them at all times with the public. Maybe OP should have the part number vs trying to explain the part to the sales counter? Amazon is a great thing. |

My daughter even filmed me standing in line for travel one time because I was losing my mind. "This, people is a man who has never stood in line. Notice him pacing from side to side and his face alternating between disbelief and rage. This, is my dad." I actually had to laugh when she showed it to me. I. Hate. Lines.
