Renault became Alpine this year. Both have driven for Renault/Alpine at this point.

Considering how the divorce of RIC and Renault went (Cyril was pretty emotional about it) I don't think he'd be welcome back. Both drivers have a multi-year contract with their current teams and I don't see either terminating early.

I see Bottas moving to Alpha Romeo filling Kimi's seat (if Kimi retires) and GIO being dropped in favor of MSC to fill the Ferrari picked seat.

Williams may pick up another driver from the Merc program or get another pay driver to fill in George's seat if he gets moved to MB.
Cyril was dropped like a bad habit though…

That was surely more politics than ability?

Never saw this. I absolutely believe it was politics. Likely because he couldn’t “keep” Danny ric

He took the blame for the incident in T1 and apologized to each driver.

For the most part, every time he is interviewed, Lewis is brought up as a comparison.

He may be in a dominant car, but he is also against one of the best drivers of all time and is destined to be outclassed in the large majority of races.

Until this year, he does manage to grab the points for the team in most cases and picks up the win when Lewis doesn't.

He has been in a visibly difficult mental struggle with this role for 4 years now and still gives it his all even in the face of being the butt of many jokes and constantly fighting for his seat.

I want GR to get his seat next year, but part of me feels for VB. I think he has had the hardest job around in F1 for the past few years and deserves our respect no matter what happens going forward.
I don't believe Bottas performed up to par last season either, especially second half of season. It hurts to say it, because I have finnish blood in me...but Russell should have been in that seat this year. I fully expected Bottas to be much better at Merc. With that said he is a standup guy and never really complained much, did what he was told. Russell is new blood and is very quick in any car he has been in. Hamilton has only ever been challenged by Nico. Nico was always right on Lewis, within hundredths of a second at times in quali if not out qualifying him on pure speed. What we need is another Nico vs Lewis season...hopefully Russell can provide that.
