So I built a gaming rig...almost

Decided I would coop putting together a gaming PC with my son. Purchased a case, mother board and power supply, gave it to him for Christmas! I figured I would let him pick the processor, ram, GPU etc. We put it all together, and I have to say it was fun! I was intimidated at first, but it hasn't been that bad. Used PCpartpicker.com to help begin my selection.

Stalled out on 1 part right now...the graphics card. Can't find one. We are super frustrated. So we haven't been able to finish the job and fire it up.

Expecting to have some glitches and things to learn with the software and initial boot up. Any one have any tips?

Anyway, just thought I would share.

Shoot me a PM with details on what exactly you're looking for and purpose (please be as detailed and as specific as possible)

Update! Picked up a gently used Nvidia RTX 3070. Completed the Bios set up and OS install/configure. It went pretty smooth and is up and running ! Woot!

That was fun...now what?

Haha I did something similar. Upgraded my 1800x/Vega 64 to 5950x/6900xt and then just continued to use it as a Youtube/Twitch watching Reddit/Forum browsing machine. Had to force myself to start up some games to try and get hooked into one.

Been playing Spiritfarer for the past week. So at least I'm gaming, but this game could probably run on an iPhone. The GPU fans don't even turn on. Also editing videos for my random youtube videos became much snappier.

hahaha , this is why I want a low end 3070 or a 3060ti. Just to have enough fps to finish cyberpunk before summer, annndddd shutdown my Pc for a while.

So since September 2020 they said 'we will restock in few weeks'; so accroding to google, june is this week new drop date.

So I'll complete cyberpunk with a 30 fps avg @low setting, and I will see if stocks will be back around november 2021.

By the mean time I will use this money in car parts

I played Cyberpunk for a few hours on my old rig and it was struggling a big, even at medium. Decided to wait for my new build. Played for about an hour on the new build. Looks and runs great but I think I'm going to just wait for more bugs and optimizations to go through. I'll try and run through my back log until then.

I was saving up to get an exhaust too but I've been dropping mad cash the last few months on so much tech stuff I'll be deep in the hole until this Christmas. The pc building bug hit me hard and I ended up buying stuff to build for my brother and sister. I actually made some videos of the builds cause I like doing that as well.

Yeah, need to try it. Is there worth while content and quality at this stage? I take it yes!

Quest 2 w/ link cable is the best bang for the buck right now. Valve Index is the baller option.

But before you dive into VR figure out what you wanna play on it. Cyberpunk and similar games have no purpose on VR. Even Skyrim VR is very tough to get used to and in my opinion plays better on a traditional PC monitor. The experience is cool to try though.

Seated simulation games are best for VR (in my opinion)- Elite Dangerous, Star Wars: Squadron, Racing Sims, MS Flight etc.

Hey I think you may have an airflow issue, should probably add a few more fans.

Its a solid/well built case and the tempered glass on the front/side just sets it off.

Yeah. It's the 011D Mini. I love it.

Your setup looks great!

Hah! When I originally built in it I had six fans (Two top, two side, two bottom) but I thought it looked odd not filling it out, so I ordered another three. In hindsight, my wallet hurts having $300 in fans.

That said, my lord does this setup run cold. I don't overclock anything on this rig, but I don't even see 60*c on either CPU or GPU under gaming loads.

Thanks. Like all my hobbies I always take things too far. Haha.

At the start of the winter almost every part in this build was different, save the two SSDs. I just wanted to upgrade to a 5600x. So CPU/MOBO/RAM....but then my AIO didn't fit in my case....so I bought a new case...which...needed a small form factor PSU....and then looked empty with only six fans....so I bought three more....and then I decided I needed an Aorus 3080 for the little LCD screen on it.
