I get it if long distance, but 15 min is just lol moron.

I've had women drive 2 hrs each way to meet me so you never know.

The key to staying sane and possibly actually enjoying dating, online or otherwise, is to focus on the process and let the results be what they will be. Stay true to yourself and your values and priorities. Put forth as much effort as you're willing to, but don't make a second job out of it. Most of it is beyond your control, so don't dwell on it.

All this is really hard for me, because I'm extremely results-focused. It's also a really good exercise for me, working outside my comfort zone.

Agree 100% & am impatient, etc etc so a tad hard for me too. Lots of them put out on date one so that makes it an easier pill to swallow.

Do you ever roll up in the FGT? You'd have no problems

For the meet-and-greet I don't reveal much about my lifestyle. I park so that they can't see what I'm climbing out of, I put my watch in my pocket, and I dress pretty generic. I want to gauge our mutual interest in each other, with the "stuff" out of the way for the time being. Later in the game, of course, we'll want figure out if our lifestyles are compatible. But for the first couple of encounters, I just want to see if we can have fun together. If we can't do that, nothing else matters.

I've never used a car to impress anybody. I only buy cars for my own tastes and enjoyment. And besides, it wouldn't work for the sort of woman I'm looking for. Even if she knew what it was.

You and I sound much alike. Curious as to what watch(es) you're rocking. I have several but my daily is my TAG F-1; although I can't wear it work and around here if it isn't Fossil, Seiko or Rolex no one has any idea what it is.

I'm a fan of Breitlings. I'm wearing a Titanium Avenger today. I have a Superocean that's a little dressier but still chunky, and a Navitimer on a leather strap that goes well with formal. I've owned Rolexes, but that brand has a connotation to it that I choose to avoid, since there are other brands whose watches I prefer and they're better values.

I'm a Breitling fan myself although I don't own one yet. Nice piece! I share your sentiments with Rolex as well. I wouldn't own one.

Ooh Avengers are pretty! To be fair though, rolex attracts way too much attention even if it's a steel model

Yeah, and for every watch aficionado who knows what it is, there's 8 fawning douches. And if someone doesn't know you and they spot a Rolex, they're going to make some assumptions about you. I'd rather avoid that. There are so many cool watches out there, there's no need to wear one that comes with baggage.

I was just having some fun with it. We all know plenty of gold diggers are out there. I don't even drive to meet anyone anymore. I just pick a brewery, bar, etc in my town & walk there already buzzed.

99% of em are not worth meeting, forget about taking time & $ to drive somewhere.

I stopped wearing watches years ago. Got annoying plus my phone has a clock. No Rolex baller, though. It was just a Movado.

At least every watch only shows the time, no matter how pricey. You could see that very exclusively or cheap.

Curious, do you guys usually dress up pretty nicely when you meet for the first time or do you just stay moderate and average dressed?

Also, how are y'all determining whether to go for a coffee or for an actual dinner lol?

Moderate. Usually nice jeans with a decent shirt. My first meet is usually for coffee though. The goal is look casual but well put together. I do coffee when meeting online because it's easy and gives you an idea of what the person is like especially if you met online. Dinner is usually awkward anyway. For a second date I'll do something fun or competitive like mini golf and lunch. Third would be dinner at one of the local casinos or something.

I typically meet for coffee or maybe a happy hour. I dress to fit the location. I dress pretty generic - no designer logos, put my watch in my pocket. I'm pretty guarded unless/until I feel some mutual connection and trust. I just want to see if we can have a few laughs together, with as few preconceived notions floating around as can possibly be managed.

Very similar for me. I don't do dinner or anything ambitious for the meet-and-greet first "date," which I don't really consider to be a date; it's more like a meeting to see if there should be a first date.

I usually shoot for 30-45 minutes. I've had them go a few hours, though, if I'm not booked elsewhere and the conversation's fun and easy.

I try to maintain a conversational tone, but I ask some probing questions. I'm there to get an impression of their character and some answers to questions that are deal-breakers for me (and might be for her too). I can be direct without it feeling like an interrogation. If they're dodgy with their answers, then we're done.

Nice. I just got out of a semi long relationship and decided to give these "app" a try now. Noticed most are absolutely trash, and you can converse for a bit and they just either go MIA or I lose complete interest from the way they respond (1-2 word messages making me carry a conversation, or they just sound uneducated af).

Met someone who seems pretty chill, been talking for like 2 weeks and told her I'd take her out to dinner but now I feel like I should've just said coffee from the responses here lol.

Sounds like you're doing well with this person, so dinner is a fine idea I think. If she's able to hold up her end of the conversation in texts/voice interactions over a couple of weeks, then dinner is a natural next step. I don't usually wait that long to get face-to-face, so dinner in my "system" is a bit riskier.
