I've eyed this off @ First Choice many times, but have finally bought a bottle. It is a typical vanilla/caramel heavy Caribbean rum, which I really like. It has a certain "creaminess" about it which reminds me of Ballantines 12yo scotch. Maybe I just drink too much for my own good.

Had a nice whiskey journey through DC and tried a few new things this week. Also had a small share and pair with some friend from DC and I have to say the Kissing Cousins I brought was the best of the lot!

Looks like I'm switching to Tito's vodka b/c gluten free. Not b/c I am going gluten free, just b/c it's obviously healthier than the other vodkas I drink so why not?

Aberlour is my go to recently for Scotch. Love their cask strength A'bunadh so I am switching between the 16 and A'bun the last few weeks. Have not seen the 18 in the Total Wine near me for a long while.

I went to a beer and wine tasting gathering tonight. A colleague of mine has been brewing beer for a decade or so. He's super talented at it. His IPA is worship worthy. He and his wife recently returned from Napa and they brought back a bunch of wines and a case of Pliney the Elder IPA, which is rated as one of the best. I agree it was very, very good, but it wasn't noticeably better than my friend's home brew IPA. That's how good his is. I had one of his double IPAs and an oatmeal stout. Both were superb. I'd consider home brewing as a hobby, except I'd gain back all the weight I've lost if I took up brewing.

^^^That's a nice looking pour. After the past few hours surrounded by a great choice of beers, it's time to return to my P12.

It sounds like a great night of drinking for you, lots of good beer and cap it off with some good whiskey! Enjoy!

This is my favorite of the Redbreast line.

Grab a bottle when you can. I have the 12, 12 CS, 15, Lustau and the 21 yr, this one is my favorite of them. Although I haven’t opened my 21 year bottle yet, it’s reserved for a special occasion.
Cheers!

Why do you think gluten free is any healthier? Unless you have a gluten allergy I am not sure why you would think that.

I have a bottle of that on the way, super excited. My brother found one and grabbed it for me, hope to meet up with him and grab it over Thanksgiving.

My answer is, it depends. Sometimes I take it room temp, sometimes add an ice cube or two, it just depends. It’s not based on the spirit either, just how I’m feeling at that moment.

Congrats on the score, I hope you enjoy the 12 CS as much as I do.

Almost always room temp for me. Even if it has bite I generally put in a few drops of warm or room temperature water.

If you like it colder just put the bottle in the fridge or freezer instead of diluting IMO.

Room temp, with water only if desired. Never ice. That would be like taking a fine red wine and chilling it to 44C. Destroys the aromatics, which comprise much of the flavor.

If I'm drinking rum, it's over ice. Scotch/bourbon/whiskey is room temp. I usually add a splash of seltzer and that may or may not be chilled. Depends on if I remembered to put a few cans of it in the fridge ahead of time.

I am not sure if you have heard but Al Gore created this neat thing called the internet. It has user manuals for just about anything ever made on it.

Also - how hard can a wine fridge really be to figure out?
