It has been said on other threads on Bimmerpost but there is no better method than time...compounding interest over time will win out. I have rental property and other investments that do provide positive cash flow but the one constant is balanced market portfolio and growth over time. Also, he should make sure he has no credit card debt and is getting full 401k match first.

Vanguard recently has been lowering Admiral Shares threshold, on many funds, to $3k...FWIW.

As I've said before on this forum, I own Apple stock which has gone up because of good quarter results and because they are paying a dividend on May 16. Made several grand just today. Easier than managing an airbnb, making money doing next to nothing!
