I have a lease on a cheap base Jetta for daily duties.
I have almost always had 2 cars. Makes me enjoy my nice car a lot more when I get a chance to take it out. Probably will always own a toy car and a daily. |

I do not. I am in the mindframe that our time to enjoy this life is too precious to waste it driving a beater .. life is right now, enjoy every moment.

thats the thing though- i'm able to enjoy the m3 more. i can afford to do more track days because i drive a little turd when it doesn't matter... secondary to that- the smart car is actually really fun, super cheap, and surprisingly fast.

I have an old 94 Toyota Camry that I inherited from my father. I drive it when the weather is nasty or my 335i needs something else fixed and I'm waiting on parts (all DIY). I also have a Toyota Tundra 4x4 when the weather is really nasty or I need to haul something or I'm going somewhere off-road. And 2 motorcycles.

Yes, but only for winter or when the other car needs to be ripped apart. My winter "beater" is a 1997 Infiniti QX4

Sort of? I used to have a beater truck (97 Ford Ranger) but needed to consolodate some cars.
Now the 'beater' is a 2019 Honda Ridgeline.

I just sold the shit wagon beater to my brother. It was a 2000 e46 wagon that I bought in 2006 for $10k. I wanted a wagon back then to haul our three greyhounds. I added 180k miles to it. My brother took it for his teenage daughter as she is learning to drive a stick.

i would daily the M3. but the harsh ride when cold is really stupid imo when yu mind numbingly commuting to work at 645AM. Spring summer I usually grab the keys of the M.
I have about an hour and 15 minute commute to work can ballon to 2 hours if traffic....mostly stop and go; lots of turns...little highway...driving stick through this can be a bit tiring. I picked up a 2003 honda pilot ex-l with 174K miles for 2400$ Shit is smooth as butter and I can drive in peace to work and back, Would I rather be driving the M3....hell yeah. are my ass cheeks numb after a commute in the m3...hell yeah so its good to have two. i mean think about it; I legit got another car for the cost of some new snow tires and rims |

Yep. 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum and a 2011 Nissan Altima S coupe. Good for days when I know I have a lot of errands to run, pick up something from Home Depot, or just bad weather.

2019 Honda Insight.
comfortable, averaging about 47mpg, it takes regular. my commute is 30 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic. All you really want is adaptive cruise, lane keep, and a decent infotainment setup. So far, im really pleased.

Not a "beater", but I have a 2017 Wrangler JKU in addition to the Hellcat. It gets used for bad weather driving, questionable parking situations, beach duty, and the occasional trail.

I have a 95 ford ranger for hauling stuff around and emergency 2nd vehicle...but it has no heat so driving it in the winter is basically impossible since everything ices up and you can't see anything.
Will probably use it this spring for some dump hauls and to get rid of my old STI shortblock, heads, various engine bits and hoist/stand. |
