Need advice - LG 65" 4K OLED - where to buy?
Okay - got the bug to finally break down and buy a new TV. I've been rocking the 62" 1080p DLP for about 9 years now...it's time to move on. Initially, I thought I wanted a 75" 4K - but though some research and viewing, I'm really seeing that this LG OLED is the way to go. To start - spending $10K to $14K on their 77" isn't going to pass the wife, so now I'm looking at a 65". Should still be fine, my theater seats are 13' from the TV.
My question is where to buy? I'm a Costco member - have their card, but they only have the B7 model for about $2600. Would have a free 4 year warranty, and would get 3% back from the card. I look on Amazon, which I have prime. From them, I could get the C7 model for about the same price, delivered. And could add the extra service plan for 4 years, under $100. Here's where it gets tricky. I checked on eBay - they have the E7 model for even less ($2500), but could get the 5 year protection plan for $300. I've bought expensive items on ebay before (such as my Nikon camera and lenses) - but never got a TV from them. Is this buyer beware with them? These are new in the box...not refurbished prices. Picture quality between the B7, C7 and E7 are all exactly the same - main difference is the sound. Which, I plan to buy a new surround system as well - so a B7 would probably be fine...just don't know if I want pumping sounds on everything I watch (I don't always use the surround system I have now). Thoughts on this? Anyone else have experience with LG's OLED TV's to give first hand experience...or with obtaining TV's from ebay?

Hi ShopVac
Try Cleveland Plasma (name is a bit dated!). After some internet research I ordered a C7 from them about 8 months ago. They were least expensive reputable dealer, very conscientious, and followed up after I received the TV (fast shipping too - 2-3 days I recall). Also C7 very minimal on the bezel and black. B7 not as sleek. E7 has built in Atmos sound bar and glass edge which looks nice too. C7 sound not too great so added LG Atmos soundbar (comes with wireless sub) from Best Buy on sale a while back at $650. Albert |

Join Home Theater Enthusiasts group on facebook. I would say to stay away from lg and go with the new sony oled.

Not from what most people are saying about it. I don't own either so i personally cant say. They are just saying the processing and the interface on the z9d are much better than any of the lg oleds.

I will just say, not from my own experience but my parent's, be sure to go with a reputable dealer and be sure you'll have good delivery service. The last thing you want to deal with is, if needed, returning a TV across the country. Best Buy for example typically price matches established online stores and though you'd likely be adding tax to your purchase you may also end up with something like the "white glove" delivery where they'll bring it in the house, unwrap it, plug it in and be sure it works before leaving. Might even have help hanging it if that's the ultimate destination. For a purchase this size & weight I'd factor in the delivery as a huge component of the overall sale.
B&H Photo is another good online store that in the past has offered this type delivery service as well. Maybe Costco would do the same locally? |

That's what i meant was the a1e. Like i say I'm not knocking either since i don't own either. I'm just relaying what ive been reading from other people and their experiences. The consensus is most people prefer the sony to the lg.

Personally I'd buy from Costco or other local store. I'd rather have a proper shop I can return something to rather than having to arrange pick up to an online retailer especially with such a large and expensive item. There's NEVER a problem returning anything to Costco.
I'd go for the B7 (I'm toying with the idea of one myself) if you have a soundbar or surround system already. It's no hardship pressing the button to turn on the sound system as well as the TV is it? |

I've actually been researching those LG TV's as well and looking at the picture on glass for the E7 looks pretty sexy imo. Go check out Best Buy they might have an E7 on display, then head out Costco and check out the B7. Then decide if Picture on Glass looks good to you or not, if it doesn't I would personally go for the Costco B7.

Both the Sony and LG oled are by far the best picture quality on the market, especially properly calibrated. I have the E7 and the overall package of sound, pq, and user interface were just better for everyday tv watching than the a1e. I dont want to mess with changing inputs for apple tv, directv, firetv, etc.

Chris Cleveland plasma. Got my e6 from him, and my parents got a G7 recently.

Cleveland plasma is very good. But, check out the owner’s thread on avsforum. Possible burn in and banding issues seem prevalent. The consensus at this point seems to be to wait for the next gen LG oled models. Costco is also fine.
