That definitely used to be the case, but I was surprised when I looked at the sales numbers for 2013 and 2014 (since the study is for MY2014 cars). They sold almost as many Cayennes as sports cars (911, Cayman, and Boxster combined). I could be wrong, but I don't think people are garaging their Cayenne while they wait for a sunny weekend.

Either way, it would have been nice if they had controlled for mileage (average and median) in the original study.

I suspect what a lot of us gloss over is that this survey pertains to folks who own 2014 MY cars and were surveyed over something like the last 12 mos

So we're looking at feedback from folks who have owned and driven the vehicles for up to about 3 years

Cant say it completely sucks but I would love to see a similar survey of folks in the 2nd to 6th year of ownership

That would tell a very different story I suspect

I'm also surprised that Mini isnt a LOT lower in that list given the number of problems they had with 2014 MY B48 engines and main thrust bearing.....yes this is much the same engine in the 230 now....MINI/BMW replaced a LOT of engines over the last couple years and a lot more sets of bearings on engines not yet "done"

Hehe yup, I know 2 people at work who had 4 cylinder engines replaced at about 20k km. But these days that is acceptable reliability apparently...: One was the thrust bearing and the other coolant.

It's because a lost Bluetooth connection is worse than a blown engine

You mean as a Audi gets? Sitting in the shop every month almost? I have few friends with Porsches and I can tell you they have serious problems. Also Honda worse then BMW? You can clearly see that list is f-upt.

I had a '14 Audi S4 before buying an M3. The Audi was a lease with 0 miles.

They had to replace the water pump(leaking), engine sensor (was idling really rough), and it mysteriously consumed brake fluid which they could never figure out. It was Quattro and under WOT it would cut power and flash DSC...in Florida, dry, and with 100° weather. I'm pretty sure there were no wheels slipping.

Redeeming quality at that point was their service. Top notch. Didn't matter what I brought it in for, a new loaner A6 or Q7 was ready as soon as I pulled in.
