My service writer warned me not to use Rain-X in my windshield washer. Says they have heard of problems with clogging and mold or other growths causing issues. He said stay with the simple blue washer fluid.
I use Rain-X, applied by hand, on all my windows. Makes side and back visibility. Much better. I have not had a problem with build-up on the windows. Tasmanian |

Picked some up on Amazon along with the Trim Coat. Wolfs is hard to come by as they have no U.S.importer. Excited to try it out!

I had the same problem with streaks. Still have a 4/5 full bottle somewhere, will never use it. The thing is just outright dangerous when not used properly, and obviously, I don't know how to use it properly.

Started using Rain X when I worked in NYC and had to drive home every weekend to New Hampshire in the snow in 1999. Made a big difference when that dirty road mist is constantly coming at you for hours on end. Shortly after, I switched over to the bottled Rain X and have used it in every car since with no issues.
I remember driving my wife's Subaru in torrential rain from Houston all the way to home in New Orleans on Mardi Gras day in 2011 with everyone on the interstate doing 30 with their hazards on while I'm doing the speed limit and I knew it was because they where too cheap to spend $1 more a bottle for Rain X or had never heard of it. The stuff makes a huge difference. You don't even know it's raining at night until you see a street light through your windshield. |

The dealership spent about 10 minutes of their 'encore intro class' warning against using this stuff - I think it is the silicone, but something in it eats part of the washer pump (at least that was their take on it).
Anybody use a 'glass sealer' (like from Griots) - don't know if it is any different (Griots can make anything sound high-tech, and they have a whole clay-bar and buffing pad system just for windows). |
